Hi folks, new owner here from Mississippi. Bought my 18 GT (with 15k miles) a month ago. Been reading all over your threads, especially the go fast ones. I ordered drop in K&N before I bought the car cos I've run them since they started making them. (I'm old) Anyway I've read the tuner debates across multiple platforms and pulled the trigger on a JB4. After the install of it and those fancy plugs I'll probably be just fine. Just wanted some extra oof for these butthead Beemer guys around here. Knowing me I'll probably try some red-light shenanigans with Camaros and Mustangs too. Anyone had any luck?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger GT! What did the Stinger replace for you? I’m glad you found us. :)

Welcome to the hive! Great colour choice too BTW

Welcome!

ive definitely been surprised by the power my rwd can put down.

so far havent lost a challenge to anything, my best was rolling up next to a clean bright orange Camaro SS (looked 2019-2020ish) with my gf (in Mexico of course) after a shopping trip. I told her ‘yeah hes totally gonna smoke me’, i look over to the other driver and we have a half second of awkward eye contact. We come off the line a bit and i hear his engine revving and I just know. We both floor it at the same time and amazingly i jumped and kept walking him till about 50 mph till i heard his tires chirp a bit. At that point i back off as hes already a car length behind me but goddam i did not expect to win that, let alone by a car length.

get ready for a lot of fun, just watch those tire treads if youre rwd haha, i cant even launch from 0 anymore without spinning all through first (probably gonna switch out my all seasons to summers once theyre out of tread). But its definitely a rolling monster even at stock, too scared to tune it though. Even from a stop youre sure to humiliate any 3/4 series, those m240is are potent though.

Welcome

Howdy. "I pass fast, I do not race." (My mantra for the last c. two years.) If I happen to have "pole position" at a light and the speed limit is at least 45 MPH, I'll punch it, and it doesn't matter if somebody else takes off fast from the front row: I'm not "racing" them, since I would hit the kickdown switch even if they were not there. :P

Upgrade the front and rear sway bars... make a world of difference!
Quick question do the sway bars affect the noise levels at all? I really wanna get a set if Eibachs but have heard on another forum (for a different car) that they can be loud.

Mine are completely silent, (on for about a year) some members have some squeaks, but it's nothing a good greasing won't fix

If you are asking about harshness, noise and vibration: no, I feel no increase in HNV. If you are asking, does the bar produce extraneous noises? Yes and no: the rear bar is totally silent; the front bar creaks softly going over speed bumps or gutters, like in and out of my driveway: I knock the creaks back with spray dry silicone: never entirely gone, but for a week or two, less than "normal". The handling and steering feedback improvement is so dramatic, that a little creaking is the lesser evil for sure: especially since at driving speeds I cannot hear anything coming from the front bar.

Thanks for the response guys, im pretty tempted to go for it if its only something that happens intermittently, im just so paranoid when it comes to small noises like that but ive heard such good things about the handling improvement.

maybe new bushings would help? Ill have to look into it some more

I don't recall which member inserted rubber lined bushings. He said "no noises at all". This was very recently too. It was on one of the sway bar threads.

(edit to add: It was @Ohiocruiser who put rubber lined bushings on his rear sway bar; I was misremembering that he had done that front and rear)

I'm thinking of doing that upgrade as well. Seems the car gets floaty at speed. Let's not even talk about the rubber band effect while on cruise, in the rain, in a curve.

Welcome to the forum. I agree also that it was a great choice in colour. It certainly shines in that photo.
