I've had a Chevy Volt and loved it for the last 5 years, which was great for Bay area traffic, but we're moving in March from San Jose to Buffalo NY and I wanted a fun AWD car. I test drove a couple and settled on the Stinger GT, and some year-end deals convinced me to pull the trigger, trade the Volt in on a new GT, and join the party now.

My goal is to enjoy the car in the Bay Area for the next couple months, maybe some drives through the Santa Cruz mountains and along route 1, then move back east and swap between snow tires and summer tires while enjoying the area.

I'm looking forward to getting to know folks here, I'm on day 1 of Stinger ownership and looking forward to years of driving a very fun car.

G’day, welcome to the forum & to the Stinger Owners Fraternity, enjoy your new ride & all the fun drives your going to have in it.

I grew up in San Jose. Left the in '87.From what I understand, the place is a lot different now... practically unrecognizable.

Congrats on your Stinger. By any chance, did you get the Yellow GT2 from Capitol Kia?

Hi Jimmer,

No, I got a red 2018 GT from Stevens Creek - they had the last 2 AWD 2018 GTs in the area, and the incentives on the 2018s were pretty good. I test drove at Capitol Kia and saw the yellow, it's a good looking car.

Yes, San Jose is growing and getting more crowded, and parts of the city have new office buildings, apartment/townhouse complexes, and other buildings going up. I wasn't here in 87, I came out in '99, but I'd bet that it's pretty changed since '87 - that was before Santana Row and some of the other new developments.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Damn, to Buffalo, NY from San Jose, CA. My condolences.

On the flip side, congratulations on the Stinger GT and welcome to the forum!

Its way too damn expensive in San Jose. I say congrats to him.

You're both right. I've been in San Jose for almost 20 years and it's been great, lots to do and great weather most of the time. I have a lot of family in the Buffalo area, and it's a good time to bring my 2 kids back to have that family support. It's a tradeoff, leaving a big, crowded area with lots to do, moving to a less crowded, lower cost area with more family. Variety is a good thing, and to each their own. I'm looking forward to the change, and bringing the GT with me for road trips in the summer and ski trips in the snow.
