Hi all, been lurking here for a while and finally pulled the trigger and collected my ceramic silver 3.3 GT AWD yesterday. Figured I’d introduce myself.

So far I’m very happy with the car, can definetly feel that it’s quite ”torky” even though I haven’t really stepped on it yet since I want to run it in first.

One thing I miss for sure though is a good exhaust sound. Coming from a 16 plate Audi RS3 with sports exhaust the Stinger is a bit to quiet.

I’ve been searching on forums and youtube for alternatives but I’m not sure what to go for. Thinking about Borla or Ark but I really don’t want constant drone so any exhausts out there with valves that sounds good? Anyone here got an aftermarket exhaust and can share some impressions? Would love some info from actual owners.

Thanks!

Grats and welcome to the forums. I come from V8 world and my personal view is that this is a great engine but it’s never going to sound horny no matter what you do to the back end so learn to love the “torky’ aspects and accept that as compensation.

Edit. I should add the “torky’ bits are more than adequate compensation, improve once the car is run in and I don’t regret trading my V8 for a second.

Thanks OliverNuther! Nice to hear, what car did you trade in for the Stinger?

I might leave the exhaust if there’s no good enough option out there. Gonna start with new wheels anyway.

But please, If anyone have an aftermarket exhaust installed that really sound good, I want to hear ablut it :)

Welcome aboard! I for one am happy it doesn’t wake the neighborhood. I’m OK with the sound. I drive faster than the speed of sound anyway, so I couldn’t hear it! o_O

Haha nice to hear, I’m sure I will be too! Going through tunnels with the RS3 though, that never gets old, glorious sounding engine. I guess I just have to try to get over it and focus on the other good things with the Stinger

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Hi Swede. I think the engine sound is quite sufficient, since Kia made a good effort to keep the cabin quiet for audiophiles.

Congrats on your choice of a beautiful color, one of my favorites. I like the subdued nature of the exhaust but understand some folks want to be heard down the road. Hope you find the exhaust that suits you taste!

I traded a 2012 VEII SSV Commodore which is a 6.0L V8. Dont get me wrong there seem to be some good aftermarket options out there but they’re never going to have that throaty rumble of an 8 is all I’m saying, which won’t be an issue to a lot of people.

Just last night the bloke next door started his V8 Ute up and left it running for a few moments. I went outside and just sat and listened to it for a few moments with a wistful look on my face. It sounded like an old girlfriend calling my name.

Ahhh, yes the V8 memories I had a VZ SSZ 5.7 from new, miss that sound.

G’day & welcome to the owners club @Soundside, you will love this car & I agree with the torque this car gives is pretty amazing.

I do like that, I'm an audiophile too and good speakers are very important for me. The exhaust though, I would love do have both. Quiet when I want to listen to music and louder and more sporty when pushing the car.

I understand that the Stinger won't sound like a V8, I've never owned one so I won't miss that V8 growl, even though I love the sound. The RS3 though is a 5-cyl with excellent note and a lot of pops and bangs on the overrun. I don't need the Stinger exhaust to be that extreme, but a bit sportier would't hurt :D

Welcome aboard @Soundside any photos of it?

I'm looking at changing the wheels first and detailing the car, will probably be posting some photos after that
