Hi,

I purchased a 2021 ceramic gray Stinger GT Line two weeks ago. I absolutely love the car. Maybe my favorite car I have ever owned (so far).

However, I was washing and waxing the car yesterday and noticed that there is a small bump in the roof on the drivers side about halfway between the spot where the sunroof ends and the rear window begins. I did not notice it when I took delivery on the car, but it is very visible now when the car is clean and shiny. And you can definitely feel it when you move your hand over the area. I would post a photo but I don't think it would really show too well.

My question is, do you think Kia can and will do anything to fix this if I bring it to a dealer? If so, is the risk of more damage worth the attempt? I love the car, and I am just afraid now that I know this bump is there that it will bother me every time I clean the car.

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

So do you mean a dent in the roof then. I would let the dealer know ASAP and see what they say. But they could always say it must have happened after you drove it off the lot. Worst case scenario, you get a paint less dent man to remove it. They are very reasonably priced. Had several taken out of my daily driver.

It is not a dent , it literally is a small bump in the sheet metal portion of the roof, a few inches away from the antenna on the driver's side.

On my very first road trip, c. two weeks in, I saw a rock bouncing up to meet me on the freeway; smack! next to the right headlight, clear to the black plastic. I spent over a month, off and on, trying to patch that spot to as invisible as possible; finally gave up, dragged a flat paintbrush over it in a single pass and called it good. It's "my" blem, to remind me that, "nothing in life has any business being perfect". Here's my test for such things: if I can walk up to the car and the blem/flaw/wart doesn't flag my attention from five or six feet away, it isn't worth bothering with.

Good way to be with cars Merlin. Very hard to keep them in perfect condition.

Can’t see how you could have caused a bump. Take it to the dealer pronto.

I took it to the dealer yesterday to document. I was given the typical "We will submit it and see what they say.". I hope it is covered. I love the car, but so far the dealer experience (sales to this) have not been great.

Merlin, thanks for your response as well. It is a good way to look at things. I know no car is perfect, but I hope noticing a bump in the roof of a brand new vehicle is not going to land me the label of a crybaby : )

Car enthusiasts are all cry babies. "First world problems", and all that. :P
