New Audi A4 vs Stinger

European Auto Brands have been ripping Aussies off for years compared to prices for same models in Europe/UK/US, but while people will keep paying over inflated prices for perceived “premium” brands this will continue.
Badge snobbery always pays big dividends for these brands, so let’s not kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

I imagine the Stinger would be cheaper in Australia if the Europeans were pushing their prices down.

I just don't get why Kia isn't marketing/advertising the car more heavily - it's easily the equal of the Euros, and is priced a class (and then some) cheaper (The Stinger is sized more like an A6 than an A4, yet is $10k cheaper than the base A4)...

The A5 Sportback is more like the Stinger equivalent, but fully loaded is AU$135K

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
these are so common here , along with Cs and 3 /4 series ...........................why follow the herd

There is, however, the included cost of luxury service amenities (of which a # of years of basic maintenance is included for certain brands).

That's the reason why the G70 is a good bit more than the Stinger in Australia.

Aside from having to price in the cost of loaners, concierge service, the aforementioned maintenance, etc. - also have to pay for the boutique showrooms that Genesis is building in select areas throughout Australia.

I can accept the higher levels of service increasing the price.

Building boutique showrooms and staffing them with pretentious knobs (seriously, the guy in the Sydney CBD showroom couldn't have looked down his nose at people any harder if he'd tried) - that's not something I'm willing to pay for.

^ Can agree w/ that - should save that snobbery for the Germans.

The German cars are just so expensive, and so expensive to repair. A CPO 2016 GC 435xdrive has been tempting me....but I am pretty worried how big of a money pit it will be after that CPO is up.

Yeah, my family owned Volvos for years, and they weren't cheap to fix. Dad's BMW (an E36 3-series) was great until it started to fail - and then it got expensive real fast. My VW Bora (Jetta for those in the US) was great until it started to fail, and then cost a packet - coil packs were $120 for a pair as an example, though that was worse here than in the US, I could import a set of six from the US for the same $120). We did many of our repairs ourselves - labour costs only drove the cost of ownership up!

But it's not restricted to Euros (though they do seem to do it best) Modern cars are much more complex and repairs are generally quite expensive - look at the threads on here where relatively minor crashes are costing thousands to repair. Also consider the apparent lack of spare parts being carried by Kia in-country, and the delays waiting for them to arrive from South Korea...
