Sadly I don’t think there will be a next gen
Thats a coin toss , I drove a friends Tesla Model 3 AWD a few days ago and was blown away with the speed and on board entertainment , an E Stinger might stand a chance , a next Gen IC engine Stinger ?, I'm not holding my breath , my dealer has already told me that the Stinger is going to be dusted .

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
"Dusted", heh. If so, then our cars will be part of a less than 200K production run: hopefully just barely big enough to sustain our interest for years to come with parts and aftermarket stuff. And the value will only go up after that. I'm not particularly interested in the value. But while I have my Stinger I want it to remain viable.

The SUV/CUV craze is taking the place by storm but some of us still prefer our sporty sedans, hatchbacks and wagons. They should introduce a sport hybrid version and a performance electric version as well to get some of that market. I blame the idiot dealers that are losing Stinger business because they want to play games and Mark up the price to some ridiculous levels. I even see them doing it with the K900. Folks walk away from these places, which is probably their first time at a KIA dealer, then never buy one as they assume it is like this everywhere. Who knows how much business they lose for the brand, based on these tactics.

I’m looking forward to see if they really will give the Optima a truly sporty version. It’s a long time coming.

Tesla model 3 looks like a kitchen appliance on wheels. I don’t think it compares visually to a Stinger. But you are probably right. ICE vehicles are on the way out.

Dont get me wrong I was only commenting on the speed not the visual , if you imagined a Gen 2 Stinger with design and styling upgrades that surpass the Optima rendering along with the power of electric it would be an intriquing option( I can hear Merlin ranting about this already !! )

You're a prophet, West. :p

There will be no demise of the ICE vehicle anytime soon. I'll be dead before that happens, even if I live to a venerable age.

Now, here's an idea: the Stinger was the "child" of the Optima in very real ways. Without the Optima there would never have been a Stinger. So, the Stinger's tour de force returns to upgrade the Optima, which gets a "Stinger" trim (and the separate Stinger drops away): the Optima "Stinger" is the top Optima trim and has RWD/AWD, a 3.5L TT engine, etc. And the Optima by then looks like a second generation Stinger anyway. The lower trims of the future Optima come with the 2.0L FWD setup as always. Mid trims might get a 2.5L and AWD with FWD bias. Etc.

I like the side profile! Sort of like the i30 Fastback N.

Not very revealing. Looks like concept stage to me.

Got some specs on the new 2.5T that will be used in the Sonata N, which will be released 3rd quarter next year, it will have a rated output of 304hp and 311tq. We can only hope that the next Optima will have a sporty version with that output as well. Don't need it to be a hard core "N" version, but is should properly sporty and luxurious with some 19" wheels, plus ride and handle better than the big bucks luxury brands.

Today as I was walking to my car, I noticed an A5 parked across from my car and I thought, dang, that new Optima (spy shot up top) looks sort of like the A5 except that the chrome runs at the bottom of the rear glass to show it is not a hatchback. What do you think?

One of Kia's three presidents Peter Schreyer since 2012 and new chief designer Luc Donckerwolke since 2018 used to design cars for the VW Group (Audi, Lamborghini, and Bentley) so there will be definitely some design overlap that is similar to Audi. If you look, the 2019 Audi A7 has the similar Sportback style as the Stinger.
