Yes, I found out about the Chevy SS (Aussie Holden) only recently. It vanished right as the Stinger came on. Other than not having a hatch, or being as sexy looking as the Stinger, I could really enjoy road trips in that car I think. Of course, I'd have to test drive one to know for sure. But the numbers sure add up to "a lot like the Stinger" alright.
Welcome to the Forum.
The Stinger and the SS are extremely close to each other in a lot of ways. Of course the SS has the amazing LS3 V8 and the exhaust note that goes with it. The Stinger is more refined in that it is quieter inside and does ride a little better. Handling is very similar.
Both are nearly identical in speed and acceleration. The SS has more of a feeling of speed while the Stinger doesn't feel as fast even though it is. The Stinger has a much more responsive auto transmission than the 6-speed auto in the SS. But the auto in the SS in not bad in anyway.
Stinger has a bit more tech such as active lane departure, active cruise, and more extensive camera system for backing up. The lane departure in the SS and collision system are only passive; just gives you a warning but has no ability to intervene.
No Apple carplar or
Android auto in the SS but it does have a very good infotainment system.
I had an auto trans SS but you can get it in a manual trans which is awesome. (I have a C6 Corvette Grand Sport with a manual so that fills my need for fun manual car).
The 2016, 2017 SS's all have a dual mode exhaust and magnetic ride shocks that have 3 modes and that was/is a standard option.
While the Stinger has several different trims (base, GT1, GT2, AWD, RWD) the SS only had one trim ever. And mainly only 3 options really; sunroof or not, full spare or not, and in the years it was available, manual or auto trans.
A far as styling, the Stinger definitely looks better. The SS while not bad looking, looks so close to a Chevy Malibu. I was actually asked a few times if it was a Malibu.
