Whats up guys,

I've been looking at getting a new to me car for the last 2 months or so. I am Looking at a 2018 GT2 with 14k miles on it and need some help.

White GT2
Red nappa interior
small collision but was repaired at dealership

They are wanting
36k for it
2500 for the extended 10 yr/ 100k mile warranty on it
500 for gap warranty
4.08% for 60 month finance
along with the ttl fees

where do I have room to work on this, 36k seems high from what I have seen.
33-34 seems more realistic. Or am I wrong here? Should I be asking for lower?

Also got lots of more questions but ill hold onto those, Biggest one being , how do you like you stinger gt and what other cars have you driven?

I got my 2020 at 37k new! Way too high.

RWD price is average. If you have not started talking lower numbers with them yet, you easily have $500 in price and probably $500 on the extended warranty. Call your insurance company and see if they offer GAP insurance for less. If they do, go with it. Don't tell the dealer. Negotiate your best price, then when you agree on the price OF THE CAR, tell them you don't want the GAP and you just noticed it was still in the quote--they are counting on you taking it and making a nice profit on it. I always tell them hey I called my insurance company and based on what they said for the price of the car and the great price You just gave me, I no longer need it from you--thanks for being a great dealer with fair prices! Let's take that off and let's sign those papers. I only had one push the issue and when I got up to walk away, it was dropped.

I have also used the same tactic with extended warranty and purchased that elsewhere. Tell them oh yeah you are right and i need that warranty. Have them think I am going to take it then drop it after we haggle the price of the car. Example 40k minus 2.5k is always 37.5k. Hard for them to come up with a reason to raise the price of the car at the end. Especially after you made sure the salesman got up and talked to the sales manager and general manager a couple times when you were haggling the price. Those are the people with the price sheets for the cars. I just say you told me how much longer the current warranty covers and that is great!

I look at no haggle car companies like carmax to see what is the upper price for cars.

Make sure the warranty covers all electronics. Check the tire treadlife left also.

All of my cars for the past 15 years are dodge chargers, magnums, and grand Cherokees. All with V8 and AWD. Also kia optimas and subaru foresters. Stinger is GT2 AWD and handles great. Has a great engine and comfortable on long trips. It definitely handles the curves better than the charger. The stinger LKA is far superior to the one on the 2020 subaru forester.

36k is way too high.

Also, do not get the extended warranty; you do not need it on a 7-year factory warranty or on a Stinger.

And yes, see if your own insurance offers gap.

Also, no need to finance through the dealership. You can usually get better rates on your own.

Offer 32k and when they say no, head for the door. They will stop you and if they don’t, you shouldn’t buy from them.

Alrighty so hears where i'm at right now

I am in sales and pout about 30k miles a year on my cars
any warranty always pay for themselves with what i do

stinger gt2 white
14k miles

I am at 39250 out the door.
2k down
2100 100k extended bumper to bumper insurance
400 doc and temp license plate fees
500 for gap
33750 for the car
rest is insurance

60 month @3.65 is 717 a month
72 month @4.08 is a bit of 600 a month

how does that look?

Dude , thanks for you reply.
I put a ton of miles on my cars and need a warranty. I think I got a good deal, check my reply to this thread. I haven't signed anything yet.
The plan was to go up to the dealership this next week and grab it.

the price for anything close to this was around 36-38/39k

the 100k warranty from them covers electronics and everything, I double checked.

Does the “small collision” show on carfax? If so, down the road YOU WILL GET HOSED on trade in. If might be a moot point if you keep the car long enough, but just an FYI (been there, done that). Right now is probably the worst possible time to buy a car - period. Due to lack of new car inventory and lack of manufacturer incentives (at least compared to prior years), the used car prices have gone WAY up.

Sounds like you plan on keeping for a while and putting some miles. I hear ya on extended warranty. So many electronics now and not cheap to repair. Upload some pics if you get it!

I love GT. Its been alot of fun both as a fun car and a daily driver.

as far as pricing goes, it seems about right.
I work as a Auto Broker and see GT2’s around that range. Price fluctuates with mileage and rwd/awd.

the additional warranty seems about $500 high for a Kia factory warranty extension but it would be in line with an exclusionary aftermarket warranty.

If you have further questions on this, you can email me at amoriyasu@centleasing.com
