Hi everyone,

I was under the front end last night and I noticed my front brake hoses have a mounting bracket, but they are not attached to the knuckle assembly. it looks like they were at one point, probably before I got my springs installed. I think the yellow paint marker lines on the bracket and the knuckle should line up, but I'm not sure. The shop manual shows a photo of the line fastened there, but not sure if that's on all cars or not. To add to the fun, I can't find a part number for the missing bolt on any dealer part catalogs.

can someone take a quick shot of their front brakes from the rear side and let me know?
thanks

Don't need a photo, you're missing the screw that holds that plate to the knuckle.

Unless there is a difference between AWD and RWD on the front other than the axles/ball joints(AWD ball joints enter from the top and bolt on at the bottom) maybe someone with RWD can chime in.

yup, missing the screw. You're right, it should be a RWD car. I can't even find the hoses for RWD with brembo in most of the online dealer parts catalogs. all of them are AWD with Brembo or RWD without.

Is there enough slack in the line that you can move it to that spot without having too much tension?

i just did my lowering springs and I can confirm, it should be bolted into the knuckle. Doesn't matter if its AWD or RWD

Kia part number for that bolt/washer is 1129306146K

thanks! dealer found part # on second try- first bolt they brought out was the one for the brake line on the actual caliper. I was wondering why he wanted to charge $9/bolt. when he brought them out I said no way and he came back with that same part # you listed. now I just have to wait until they get here saturday.

Narsnail, yes, there is enough slack to get the line bolted up there.

Glad you got it figured out, was just curious if the layout was different for RWD/AWD but that doesn't matter now.

87and66, any chance you could snap a photo for me? that 1129306146K bolt (same as on the car side brake line bracket) looks too thick to fit in that hole in the knuckle. you don't need to jack the car up- I just stuck my phone behind the wheel, aimed at the knuckle, and took a few shots with flash until I got what I needed for the shot in the first post.

(or, anyone else with a GT, since it sounds like there's no diffrerence here on AWD/RWD.)

thanks!!!

these weren't easy to obtain with the car being lowered, but here is the passenger side bracket that is closer to the center of the car

They are both identical 10mm bolts. That I know for sure. The diagram on kiapartsnow isn't very clear, but I think that part number is correct though

looking at the diagram, i wonder if these brackets are the parts i circled. which have no part numbers or bolts shown. Neither these parts nor the brackets with the red highlighted numbered bolts look like what is on our cars. This has me scratching my head now

I was just under mine the other day tightening my ball joints; your AWD front looks a tad different from mine I think. So strange. I'll try to get a pic before I go to work.

thanks for that. the bolt in the part diagram is not the correct bolt. I took the 1129 one from the bracket that's mounted to the wheelwell (which is what that bolt is in the diagram) and it didn't fit. the one in your passenger side bracket on the front of the knuckle that holds the electronic suspension harness with the big "8" on it is the correct bolt. It's an M6-1.0 bolt. I got a pair from Home Depot and the passenger one fit fine; the driver simply wouldn't go in. I managed to get an M5-1.0 bolt in there that screwed in fine and bolted the bracket firmly in place.

thanks, guys. the photos helped to confirm I was mounting them correctly. both brackets are now firmly attached to the knuckle like they should be, and rest assured I will never use the shop that installed the springs again.

Final update. I picked up the 11293-06146K bolts from the dealer and they ARE the smaller bolts necessary. They are not the same bolts as the brake line to hose fitting bracket I had tried. Thanks to all again.
