Anyone know what this is? I found it on the ground after changing oil. I believe it had been lying on the front shield under the engine and am wondering if it is a leftover broken piece from the raccoon fiasco.

Thanks in advance for any insight.20191104_081348.webp

Don't think that's it... even with mods, I don't think I'm pushing 1.21 gigawatts.

>PP-TD40< is a plastic material code (somebody else could provide what kind of plastic it stands for), used in all manner of "covers" from filters to AC components. The "Made in Korea" number doesn't turn up anything on a web search. I don't think that the left end is busted off: it doesn't look "crazed" or bent in the picture: I think wherever this fell off from, it simply got torqued off by getting snagged loose. The part looks like it is hinged, I.e. opens and closes to cover something. That triangular protrusion on the right end looks like it controls whether it snaps shut or open. Get your dealer to ID it and put it back on.

Thanks, MtM.

One of the hinges is definitely broken, which is likely why it fell off. I found nothing relevant with any of the numbers either. Mainly wondering how vital a piece it is and whether I can just leave out off. It's possible there is already a new one on the car as part of the raccoon repairs.

Well, if it were my missing part, I would be asking the dealer to ID it. And then if it needs replacing I would do it. No sense wondering if a filter is exposed to the crap from the road, or hot, dusty air in the engineroom.

Can you show a pic of the other side?

I’m thinking interior air con / heating access panel or something. The hinge is odd placement. Maybe an air flow control.

I sent the pic to the repair shop. They identified it as part of the intercooler (and apologized for the broken piece still being in there).

Thanks for the feedback (and Back To The Future references!).

Looks similar to the cabin air filter cover behind the glove box. Did you or they change it recently?

edit: missed your follow up. Glad you got it sorted.

I did about a month ago. I'm going to double check it's still there!

Found them. Can just see them looking down the front with the hood open
