My Potential First Mod

Im thinking of adding the Larger Stinger emblem for my first mod. My question is, would I be able to paint the emblem chrome black? Thinking chrome black would go nice with the sunset yellow. Opinions?

painting chrome is very tricky ..................despite cleaning my emblem with rubbing alc ,2 coat of primer , 3 color coats and 3 clear coats mine chipped .............

Was thinking to do the same with mine, as it will contrast really nice with the white, but I rather not risk it, because I will have to wait another month for a replacement.

If you heat the plasti dip in warm water for several minutes you can get a really good level application . I painted all my rear badges this way and they worked out really well .

Actually looking at car this morning , I'm envisioning the Plastic dip flat black looking really good on the yellow. Do you happen to have any pics of the emblem?

4 coats of PD , no glossifier , the trick is to keep the can warmer and do multiple thin coats , I even used a hair dyer to ensure the layers were properly dried befor recoating

I'm not associated with Mike at all, but I will say this is best left to professionals. painting on chromed plastic is not for novices. there's a lot of trial and error involved. easy to learn but hard to master. leave the plasti dip for the ricers. this car deserves better. just my opinion ...

it's my opinion sorry if it offends? it just looks cheap to me. I'm more of a factory look kind of guy.

I am new to this forum but not new to forums and it's opinionated ways. The "ricer" label is a individual level of expectation of what they might consider "fake and cheap"(hence people taking offense to it ) in comparison to what they might consider to be "real". I believe there's this guy on YouTube that has called the Stinger a really nice "ricer" because he drives a Hellcat and consider anything under 700 HP to be lower then his standard.

That being said. I do like the plastic dip result and also the link to the professionally done emblem. All great choices. Thanks all.

Looks good. Great job. Is it flat black or did you glossifie it?

I did one in flat black with 2 coats of glossifier. The glossifier added texture but no gloss. I would skip the glossifier if I were you.

I re-did it flat black without glossifier and it's much better.

I also kept it warm by placing it in a sink full of hot water between coats, as WCGT suggested above.

some people get offended by the term. who knows? you can't even say oriental anymore without offending somebody. i still have no idea what's offensive about that term. then again there's a new term everyone is offended by on a daily basis. don't sweat it.

LOL. trust me I don't care. I owned 2 ricers about 20 years ago. a '90 crx si with a shogun ground effects kit and an '84 Celica gts with a huge ass wing. they were the epitome of rice - race inspired cosmetic enhancement. whatever - peace and love my friend peace and love

I have printed out the images from the link and will be stotch taping these bad boys to the yellow stinger. Its between the Matte Black or Glossy Black. Decisions Decisions.
