How's it going guys? I haven't been on a forum in years now, but as a 40ish year old I spent my formative years surfing many automotive forums starting in the late 90s.

I just picked up my 2019 stinger a couple weeks ago and already have most of the burger motorsports catalog ordered for it. It's currently getting a paint correction and ceramic coat to fix some wear and tear on an otherwise good condition 50k mile example. This car is going to be a cruiser weekend car for my wife and I for around town and quick road trips but what I'm most excited for is to get back autoxing and finally doing track day events and hpde.

I look forward to learning more about the cars and the community, hopefully it all works out positively.

I like older toyotas and have an 05 corolla xrs that I bought in 07 that I've been building and racing since. My work truck is my 05 4runner v8 and can't see myself getting rid of it. I bought a 2014 tacoma a few years ago because I wanted a pickup truck but it honestly rarely got driven and sat in the garage. It was a v6 4x4 6speed 4door so pretty desirable and I got an offer where I made money on it so I pulled the trigger and sold it. I sat on the cash for a few months wringing my hands on what to do with it. I have a buddy who bought a 2021 m4 comp and couldn't find a comparable "complete package" type of car, and my wife and kids won't let me spend the m4 money.... so I went with what is honestly the next best most cost effective option, the stinger. A 4 door is a must for me and the hatch holds all my boys lacrosse/sports gear just as well as my wife's 23 4runner, and the performance is nothing to scoff at. I'm honestly thrilled with the car so far and am excited to see how she compares to the m4 on map3.

Very logical and you're right, a tuned Stinger isn't going to leave much to desire as far as the M4 is concerned. I wouldn't mind hearing more about that Corolla... :D

Well if you're gonna talk sweet to me...

I've been a fan of corollas since before I could drive. I know that sounds odd to most people but hear me out. My older brother got a 94 corolla for his first car and as most younger brothers do I idolized him and thought he had the coolest car ever. He lowered it, put ADR DTM wheels on, and had a touring car style wing on it... very 90s. Well when I matured to driving age I drove that car around a little bit but doing research on the newly available internet I found out there were actually cool corollas. My first car at 15 and a half was a 1985 corolla gts hatchback. I loved that car and had it for a long time and it led to me owning and modifying 3 or 4 of them over the years, eventually turbocharging, hence the name. I started autoxing my first car and it was all downhill from there, an addiction. As far as how this pertains to my 05 xrs is that I got married, bought a house, started a career, etc and felt a newer more refined "performance" corolla was the way to go.

I built that car largely in my early to mid 20s and it shows. It's a little too low, rides a little too harsh, the clutch is a little too aggressive, but it makes all the right noises. It has a long tube race header with a custom 2.5in exhaust, an act 6 puck clutch with a lightened fidanza flywheel, 10k/9k custom valved ksport coilovers, a 3in cold air intake, a tuned factory ecu, etc, etc. I'm probably not getting rid of it unless a I get an offer I can't refuse, but I waffled around about updating it for my 40s and couldn't really hammer anything down. That led me to the stinger as well, a refined sporty car with potential and a more fitting drivetrain/powertrain for what I'm currently wanting in a car.

I really appreciate sleepers - and normally the Corolla would fall into that category with high performance modifications - though I understand yours actually sounds great - so - not so much a sleeper. Still, most people will expect it to sound good but have no "go", which yours does. Nowadays there are some pretty quick Corollas right out of the showroom.

Well since my last post I got my car back from the detailer, unfortunately it's not as pristine as some of the cars you see on here but it's a driver so I don't mind too much. I also installed my single tial bov, bms intakes, hks spark plugs, and the jb4 and I couldn't be happier. What a versatile and fun car, I really can't think of anything else that checks all the boxes this car does for the price. I have a tank full of 100 and it runs flawlessly.

Ima sure that in pictures your detailed "new" car will look great. Show it off now.

Some of you guys are obsessed with getting photos of stock looking cars lol. Here is what I have on hand. The full car photo is before the detail, I haven't taken any post detail but I have some on the way. The other photos are the paint correction and the mods so far. I still need to replace some trim pieces and clear bra the lights.

Excellent "coverage" of your detailing. How much did that swirl removal cost? Or did they list that separately? Ima curious, because I keep it in the back of my mind that one day the detail, paint correction will happen.

The detail was a two step paint correction and ceramic coat on the whole body and windows. The price was around $1000

Ima guessing that the correction part was pretty minimal/easy, because a full ceramic treatment can be way more costly than a thousand by itself.

The detailer found most of the car was in decent shape except for the upper trunk/hatch panel. I also opted for the 3 year ceramic application because I'm not sure how long I'll own the car, though my outlook has changed over the last week leaning toward a more long term ownership. The nice part about where I took it is that the ceramic coat is registered with carfax.

Here are the photos from after the detail. Both front and rear bumpers have slight discoloration, is this common? I'm convinced this car lived outside and on the highway it's whole life so I don't feel so bad about wanting it as a driver for my family.

Next on my list is maintenance. I'm doing some research and have found that Motul has pretty much all the non coolant fluids I'll need. Is there a sticky anywhere with a repository of maintenance oil/items?

If you hadn't said anything I'd never have looked at the pictures for discoloration on the bumper covers. I can't see it in the back, but I can make myself see it in the front. That is one spiff garage - there's a thread on that too. Whats your stingers garage look like If you're parking out of the sun most of the time, the ceramic should slow/stop any discoloration going forward.

I use the manual for fluids and other maintenance information, and let KIA follow the schedule.

Unfortunately/fortunately that's my detailers garage. I'm working on making mine as nice but it's been a slow process. The stinger will live exclusively in the garage for as long as I own it.

Congrats on the Stinger. I have a 2022 GT2 AWD that I took to my first Autocross last month. It is completely stock, with the exception of the 2022 Borla valved catback exhaust (and some window tint lol).

I'm a total Autocross noob but it was a ton of fun, even for a heavy car. Even managed to spin the car out on a slalom section hahaha. Too much throttle and all of the nannies were off. The stock tires on the car were made for comfort and not grip. I'll be moving up to higher performance all seasons from either Continental or Michelin whenever I'm done with them.
