My garage has a thief, or a ghost.

I’ve been using a parking mat like this in my garage for years.



It’s made of rubber and weighs about 2 pounds. I back into my garage and it makes it easy to stop in just the right spot.

Yesterday, after being gone about an hour I returned home and backed into my garage. I didn’t feel the usual bump when I drive over the mat.

I got out and the mat was nowhere to be seen.

Places I’ve checked:

• The entire garage
• Driveway
• Neighborhood street
• Road and shoulder exiting the neighborhood
• Wheel well
• Undercarriage

I’m certain I would have heard this heavy, rubber mat if it got stuck to the tire and flung into the wheel well.

If it stayed stuck to the tire, I would have felt a thump with each revolution. The mat has never stuck to the tire, even in far hotter temps.

So, it’s missing due to either a ghost or a burglar with very specific tastes.

The " Borrowers " seem to take socks too, but for some inexplicable reason they take just one and you end up with odd socks. it's a strange phenomenon that seems common in every household laundry room.
