So it got delivered to the dealership yesterday. I got a chance to see it today, i was totally expecting to be completely dissappointed. Thankfully it was at a competent paint shop.

The paint seams are near invisible, they did a really good job blending them. As i expected the rear trunk lid and bumper dont match the rest of the car. They are visibly darker.

So i'll be reaching out to CA tonight with the pictures and tell them they need to fix this. So i'm hoping that battle goes pretty easy. Sorry for the pic quality since it was taken with my phone, i'll use the DSLR next time.

And comments Like "you should just do a buy back", "just trade it in for a different color" and the like are not appreciated, so if that is your comment kindly move on to the next post.

i never said i wasnt happy, i'm just going to push to see if they will make me happier. And yes i know all about the difference in paint between plastic and trim vs body panel. I had gotten the front bumper repainted the same time as the rest of the car and guess what, it almost perfectly matches the rest of the car.

Well, the rear bumper and trunk lid are not "visibly darker" in your pics. I might be slightly color blind. :P

Yeah I’m not seeing the plastic panels being darker from your pics, if anything the trunk lid looks brighter.

Not saying in person it doesn’t look that way but I would try to get better pictures or have someone at the dealership see it and agree with you it’s darker.

Yeah this camera not so good at capturing it. I did have the service Manger look at it and he agreed. The regional is coming to see it on Wednesday and he said he will point it out then.

Does look a little off. The guy paid for a car with patching paint, thats what he should have, not just to be happy that they got it "close enough".

And that's what he got: "patching paint".:rofl::whistle:

when i spoke with valerie and then eric hunter, i expressed my concern with the fact that only the metal parts were being painted and not the bumpers. when i asked about the fact that the paint will be faded/and or a different shade of the yellow, i was told that the body shops will try to blend them as close to the new color as possible. even, and i say this with much experience in messing up my cars over the many years, if the bumpers were to be painted, they will still fade at a different rate than the rest of the car. so they will always be slightly off, unless you don't park or drive in direct sun. now, the body shop told me that if i chose to get a ceramic coating on the car, that might, and he stressed might, alleviate the color difference. i will have to check out some lighter colored cars with ceramic coating and see if there is a difference between metal and non-metal painted surfaces.

I can see the pictures, just shows a circle with a minus sign in it :(

17th_letter, I am in the same boat as you. The paint color is drastically different once the paint isn't in direct sunlight. The paint shop advised me to paint it if I plan on keeping the car, and advised to do so within the next two-three weeks for the best results. I started the process without approval and plan on paying for it out of pocket and get reimbursed if possible. The price for the rear bumper, rockers, trunk, and front bumper was quoted to me at 1500.

You'll be getting that $5K cheque. $1.5K sounds really reasonable to me, in light of some of the quotes that people have been given.

I've done a close look at my factory paint and even stock I notice a different shade of the plastic parts, they are darker than the metal parts. Mine goes in within the next month so we'll see how it turns out. Would love to have them repaint the plastic parts but don't have the cash to layout now to repaint those parts, will have to wait for the $5K check.

And in a few years the plastic yellow will look slightly different from the metal yellow (they call me metal yellow, they call me metal yellow), regardless. Expectation wards off disappointment later, if not exactly now.

(Ahah, exactly the post count to my 100th birthday, 2052. This will last probably less than five minutes too.:D)

Nice pics, looks like a beautiful Sunset yellow Stinger to me! But hey, if you don't like the way it looks in person (as photos can be deceiving) then it's your right to want it fixed.
