Denso plugs and 91 octane, Racechip on sport mode and I'm having a bunch of misfire issues. All on cylinder 3, but it's intermittent, any ideas?

Plug or coil is shot.

It happened on the same cylinder with the stock plug, so that points to the coil. But wouldn't be all the time if the coil was shot?

Try swapping coils and see if the issue persists.

When I experienced it, it happened only when I was running a Map.

hmm, sorry to hear about your problem, man. I am running your same plug/octane setup with racechip, too. gapped at .24. I consistently leave it on race mode, havn't had any issues with Jersey weather being cold and warm this past month.

Depending on the RC map that you have for RaceChip, you might want to first run no less than 93 to 98 with plugs gapped between .024 and .028 Here where I live gas quality was the biggest issue:)

Thanks for the info! Costco gas (where I refill) is top tier certified with a combined octane of 93. (So they state) lol

its the denso"s. there have been many problems listed about them. your coil is probably toast, or getting close. also, like arnie posted above, make sure that they are gapped, my stinger with the race chip black, likes .25 good luck and please keep us posted

I’m sorry to hear it’s on cylinder 3, that one is a pain in the ass.

Did you pull the intake off or snake the coil out of the back? If you snaked it, it’s possible that you may have separated the coil, I nearly did separated mine myself. If you did snake it, I would assume it’s the coil. I would order a new one just in case and replace the coil for cylinder 3 with the new one. Be extremely careful installing the new one if you aren’t removing the intake.

Thats my best guess.

My plugs came with a .28 gap so far it runs very smooth as long as I have good gas with the right octane values , .024 to .026 would be better for my RaceChip as well :)I was told to leave. 028 gap as these are NGK race plugs 140 degree s colder and so far they run well and just had them inspected 3 days ago

I had Denso plugs as well and for me no problem s with them but when I had them inspected after 10 k looked like my additives eat them up a bit , so I went another degree colder NGK and so far all is good lol
