Cup holders forward of the gearshift look more hazardous: you could grab the cup and bump the gearshift knob. Maybe not. But why do designers put wires UNDER the cup holders in the first place?

Or more realistically, why not make sure it's designed where if there is a spill cause there will be, that the liquid is routed to non crucial areas.. lol ..
