Just a general question not pertaining specifically to Stingers. How many miles do you expect to see on the odometer on a new car on the dealer's lot? I know that they usually arrive from the factory with somewhere under 5 miles. A few test drives might bring the mileage up to 50 or so. Some dealers allow potential customers to keep a car over the weekend for extended "test drives".

At what point would you say that the mileage is too high, and either demand a discount or back out of the deal? 100? 200? 500?

For me over 100. I got mine with 5 miles.

Me here who has never owned a new car...

Audi 50k miles, stinger 10k miles. Both were worth it.

Wut?

he asked what a “new” car would still be classified based on miles on the lot.

pretty sure 50k or 10k would make me think “used”. Lol

By legal definition, under 500 miles and having never been registered to an owner of either personal or corporate type constitutes it as being new.
That said, what you do see sometimes is loaners or demo's that have over 500 miles. This is only a thing with automakers that have demo programs for their cars and you can usually get these for a pretty good price as the dealership writes the car down every month they have it in service. They also take depreciation on it too. Thus, you can get a decent price.

Not sure why you are quoting me.

I’m not the guy who randomly mentioned 50k or 10k cars…

mine had 152 miles on it. It came from another dealership that is 133 miles from the dealership I purchased from. So I suspect it was driven that 133 miles. Bothered me a little, but I had 1000 miles on it in a week, so oh well. 34,000 now

They should’ve put that car on a flat bed for delivery. What if something happens like rock chips or damage rims from potholes.

One dealer tried to bait and switch a brand new car ad with an identical spec demo with 3K, but wouldn't come down on price. So I gave them the finger and went to another dealer.

Mine had 75 miles when I bought it.

When I picked up my new 2014 WRX it had 256 miles on the odometer but was listed on their site as "mileage: unknown". They gave me an additional discount.

When I picked up my new 2020 Stinger it had 11 miles on the odometer but was listed on their site with 10 miles. No biggy.

If the car was factory ordered it should have less than 10. They shouldn't have that many test drives imo. The only car I bought new with some miles on it was my srt charger that was a dealer trade.

My prior car was a demo/loaner vehicle exactly as described with 80-something miles, ended up taking nearly 30% off the sticker between their markdowns and some manufacturer incentives. It did, however, lower my warranty duration by almost a year which I didn't know about until I checked my owner's profile online some time later. Ended up being traded in for the Stinger before it expired but would have fought it had I kept it and something broke past that time.

I mostly buy new cars for various personal reasons, and most of them had less than 20 miles on the odo.

I bought a g80 with 3.8k miles as a “new” car because it was a demo and hadn’t been titled. the discount was significant. I still got new car financing. And the warranty started from the day and mileage I bought it at.

My stinger I rolled off the lot with 6 miles on it. Then proceeded to drive it 300 miles back home. Thanks to COVID still under 9k miles 18 months later.

It wasn't towards OP nor OC, just a random comment lol. New I would say less then 50 max 100.

My car had 13 miles at checkout and im told the dealer owner guy drove it and wanted the next level trim hope that was true
