I’ve been noticing some mileage discrepancies with my Stinger recently. Honestly, not sure if I’m driving that much as I haven’t keep any precise numbers… but it just seems wrong.

Earlier this month I remember my mileage was at 37k.

I drive about 250-280 miles per week, give or take. At worse I would expect my mileage to be around 38k this far in the month.

It’s at almost 40k now.

What is going on? I did some research and found out that there may be some mileage discrepancies due to the AWD system for this car but… this much mileage seems suspicious.

Car background: I did buy it used a couple months ago.‘19 GT2 model, low mileage with solid service history. Never missed a service interval.

What do you guys think?

Different size tires might throw it off 5-10%, but not 300%.

Map out a 20 mile drive and see what your trip computer and odometer show after.

Assuming you drove the car during this time, how exactly did you not notice the odometer went from 37k to almost 40k?

I just don’t look at the odometer a lot.

I’ve been taking pictures of my odometer before I turn off the car and comparing the miles to my trip.

I’m just having a hard time believing I could put on almost 13k miles in 4 months.

Great car to drive. I find myself taking the "long way home", or " scenic route".
Do it a few times and it mounts up. LOL

If you have any doubt, open a GPS instrumentation app and compare trip mileage on it to your car's display. I use Ulysse Speedometer, but there are plenty others.

What I find typically is that as long as your tire's rolling diameter is pretty close to stock, the odometer is fairly accurate. Speedo might be 1-2mph off at fwy speeds. That's car mfrs avoiding liability.

I think your son is sneaking out at night and cruising with his friends...

There is no discrepancy.
The milage on the ODO is correct.

For there to be a discrepancy, you would need to have at least 2 data source with conflicting data.

So far you have 1, just the Odometer, which is correct .

What size tires are on the car, front and rear? I would do a 100 mile trip on my phone map app vs the odometer to compare. Anything less is not going to be enough of a discrepancy to nitpick.

My 20s throwes off millage and MPG just one of those things PXL_20230511_180726387.webp

It’s the default staggered setup from factory. A/S tires, Pirelli fronts and Michelin rear (mismatched because only tires available for my size when I had to change them).

I’ve been keeping a closer eye on the odometer and it seems accurate.

Outside of someone taking a nightly ride with it, it seems correct.

Still hard to believe tho.

It's easy to bang on Ks or miles in relatively short trips. It's 45kms (30 miles) round trip for me to the beach or the CBD but I can easily put that on just doing the shopping in my local suburbs in a day. So you can easily add Ks without much effort. And let me say 250 to 280 miles a week is a lot. That's 450kms a week. That's a high mileage car here. 23,400kms a year. Quarter million in ten years. That's end of life for a car here.
