Since there is a yellow and a silver color discussion...why not blue too. Sorry - I know the paint issue have been beat around so much already, just wanted to know the opposite....

I'm about to pull the trigger this week on the GT2. I really like the blue (no offense to other colors, they look great, but the blue had me at hello). I know I've been warned about the paint chipping issue especially on cars with a 11/17 or 12/17 date. I've read all the post and polls about the micro blue, but I wonder how many forum members here have the micro blue and don't have any paint issue with a build date of 12/17. Also any member have a blue that has a newer build date?

I'm very meticulous about my cars and a bit OCD when it comes to the finish. I'm the kind of person who would spend 4 or more hours cleaning my car including every little crevices. Even when parking, I would be that guy to circle an almost empty parking lot trying to find the best spot to avoid other cars from possibly hitting my door or scratching my car.

I definitely plan on getting PPF done on the car - might do the whole car, but I don't know how well it holds if you need to get a dent removed + ceramic coating and already found a very good shop where I reside.

Can't speak for the blue. Passed on that because my GTO is about that same color, so I went with HiChroma Red. November 2017 build. Paint is perfect.

11/17 build date, bought in January. Paint is flawless so far!

11/17 build date, bought in May. Paint is flawless so far with 5,000 miles.
I love the blue GT2 with the ivory interior!

Micro Blue 4/18 build date bought in June, everyone comments on the colour, looks real good to the point it sparkles in the right lighting. It does show the dust a bit but that’s in comparison to the white car I had for the last 15 years which surprisingly didn’t show dirt as much. I think darker cars always show dirt more.

No issues with flaking etc, only got 2 very small rock chips, nothing to do with the quality and everything to do with the dickhead on his phone in front of me putting his wheels over the fog line onto the shoulder and throwing shitloads of rocks at me. From the amount that hit me I’m surprised I’ve only got 2 small chips. That being said if you didn’t know where to look you wouldn’t see them.

I'll have to double check my build date, but i'm pretty sure it was 11/17 or 12/17 because I purchased in January. More importantly, paint is still perfect at just over 4,500 miles

11-17, 3100 miles and still going strong. One rock chip, but that one is legitimate. I'm rebadging this weekend, so we'll see how it holds up to that.

Wife did scuff up the bumper getting a stroller out of the car though. Grr.

While I had an issue on my 02/18 build Micro Blue bumper, Kia took care of it by replacing the bumper. I am ecstatic with the color and all the accolades it gets from those who see it.

This is a low-slung car and as such rocks are going to hit it and some will chip it. Thats a fact of life, so your plan to PPF the front will serve you well. I wouldn't even wait a day to have it installed.

I had my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee coated in PPF. The entire front end. About a month in I sustained a softball sized dent in the passenger fender. My body shop was able to pull the dent without damaging the ppt. It totally resealed itself afterward. I can't assert that will be the case with every product, but that is one experience you can refer too in your analysis.

Be sure to post pics when you take ownership! Go Blue!

11/17 Micro Blue. Front End has had a repaint due to 40+ Paint chipping locations. Waiting for the clearcoat to still cure before I can put on my PPF. 8300 Miles

Where were your chips? Bumper cover, hood, fenders?
