Hi everyone,
Just dropped off my GT2 at the dealership because a few weeks ago I slowly jumped a shallow curb while U-turning and now I hear an occasional metal scrapping/grinding noise coming from the undercarriage when I accelerate.
Here’s my original post at the FB group:
Problem: Metal Scrapping noise when accelerating
Started: slowly jumped a shallow curb making a U-turn
Occurance: Accelerating from 15 mph to 40 mph or going uphill. Never heard when foot is off the gas cruising. Happens when the car is cold or warm, more so when warm.
Inspection: rotors, wheels, shocks, pads ok. Nothing hanging underneath. Steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal do not shake, stutter or feel different. Have not yet inspected the car from underneath
May be related mods: BMS intake and SSR Downpipe (Grinding noise issue heard when wheel is turned all the way left and in motion - reversing or driving forward)
Any idea what I should look for when I get a chance to put the car up on jacks? It Happens when I’m driving straight or turning. Feels like it’s coming from the front half of the car and somewhere in the undercarriage. Sounds like dragging a metal pipe across the pavement
——————————————
Advice I received so far is either heat shield or dust shield. I checked both, heat shield seems intact. Dust shield seems questionable but maybe that’s the original design of it
