The base is called MCAS Miramar which is about 20 minutes north of San Diegonever mind, I assumed camp pendleton, but a map search says no. what is the place called where your stationed?
thanks. lol it's in the thread title but I didn't know what it meant. so you have your utah plates on base, for how long can you get away with that? The base is called MCAS Miramar which is about 20 minutes north of San Diego
It's an active duty military allowance. You can keep your car registered in your home state as long as you're active duty. I never served, but I used to be with someone who did.thanks. lol it's in the thread title but I didn't know what it meant. so you have your utah plates on base, for how long can you get away with that?
This post makes me want to take my shirt off and play volleyball...in the Danger Zone.I thought y’all only rode Kawasaki GPZ900R?
Lol yeah there are too many acronyms in the military sometimesthanks again. I hate acronyms with a passion but they are an inescapable part of the real world.
the reason why I hate them is twofold: having to remember their meaning (so much of the time I have to scroll back up there to find the original reference in 'long speak', i.e., the actual words), and knowing that the mother tongue is being bastardized by shortening the ever-increasing list of titles and phrases into single letters strung together. chinese symbols were developed the same way, a pictogram in the place of a full 'sentence' of symbols. usmc instead of united states marine corps, see how that works? future generations will be learning to 'read' the acronyms instead of the words, and when the acronym becomes household common, the words for that phrase or title will disappear as irrelevant.Lol yeah there are too many acronyms in the military sometimes
Bill Rago: Excuse me. Excuse me. I'm looking for the Army Education Center.the reason why I hate them is twofold: having to remember their meaning (so much of the time I have to scroll back up there to find the original reference in 'long speak', i.e., the actual words), and knowing that the mother tongue is being bastardized by shortening the ever-increasing list of titles and phrases into single letters strung together. chinese symbols were developed the same way, a pictogram in the place of a full 'sentence' of symbols. usmc instead of united states marine corps, see how that works? future generations will be learning to 'read' the acronyms instead of the words, and when the acronym becomes household common, the words for that phrase or title will disappear as irrelevant.
LOL! I knew I recognized that somewhere. Didn't realize it until I saw the info at the bottom that it was from Renaissance Man.Bill Rago: Excuse me. Excuse me. I'm looking for the Army Education Center.
[reads referral]
Bill Rago: Captain Tom Murdoch.
MP Directing Traffic: Captain Murdoch's not at the A.E.C. Captain Murdoch's at the A.R.C
Bill Rago: [fumbling to write down directions] A.R.C., A.E.C.
MP Directing Traffic: [Walks up to Rago] You lookin' for Captain Murdoch?
Bill Rago: Yeah.
MP Directing Traffic: The A.E.C. is building 2310. You want building 4475.
Bill Rago: 447...
MP Directing Traffic: Look, here's what you do. You go right here. Take another right at the P.X. Go half a click 'til you see the D.P.T.M. Center. Then take a left.
Bill Rago: [writing furiously] P.M., P.X.
MP Directing Traffic: If you hit the R.F.P.C., you've gone too far.
[returns to post]
Bill Rago: [reviewing notes] D.P.T.M., R.F.P.C.
[pause]
Bill Rago: Can I buy a vowel?
Quotes from "Renaissance Man"

*Corps
I medically retired from MCAS Cherry Point a few years ago. My last time on Miramar I was pulled over and warned for speeding at 2 am.
If Miramar is anything like CP or Lejeune, you won't see a ton of Stingers around. Mustangs, Camaros, and Chargers, on the other hand...
Pick most ANY active duty military installation and that is what you'll find.*Corps
