Im probably gunna be grabbing a catback when I get the Stinger ('18, 3.3T) out for the spring... currently in hibernation cause it doesnt deserve all this salt.

So, I was really going back and forth between two options I've narrowed it down to... wanted to see if anyone has any real world experience or insight on the two.

Here's my thinking:

The MBRP (S4704AL) with some aftermarket tips to kill drone seems like it probably sounds better... lower, growly sort of tone, low/no drone, AND way cheaper... but Im nervous it'll be too loud for my taste. I really want something that's only marginally louder than stock and doesnt sound like a fart can. Especially in the scenario of like, leaving from a stop light in town... I want a respectable performance sound, not sort of like... "hey look at me my car is loud and fast" 18 year old racer type of sound. Some people say... 1 being stock, 10 being muffler delete, the MBRP is 4 or 4.5, while others have said 6 or 7... that's a pretty big spread.

The Jun BL EVC has the safety of being valved so I can tone it down, but all the videos seem like it has a more tinny, raspy sound to it that Im not so crazy about... so Im nervous I'll spend all that money just to have a car that's too quiet with the valves closed, and sound less than good with the valves open... worst of both worlds.

In the end, I know buying exhaust for sound is always somewhat of a gamble cause sound clips are almost worthless and you're just going off of other people's opinions on *their* setup so Im not entirely risk averse. Just trying to get as educated of a decision as possible.

MBRP imo.

Safest and the nicest sound if arent looking to wake up your neighbors. It fits the bill for not being overly loud like Borla or too quiet like stock.

Hey FriboRage,
You are definitely on the right track with your thought process. Both are really great exhaust options. The biggest difference between the two is the EVC system that comes with the Jun Bl EVC Catback. The EVC will allow you to open and close valves in the exhaust so that you can switch between a quiet mod and then open the valve so that you can get the full sound of the exhaust when you want. If you are worried about the harshness of the winter on the exhaust, the Jun Bl would be better suited for the winter due to it being made of stainless steel. We carry both options at www.K8StingerStore.com and I would be glad to help answer further questions or assist you with a discount if you reach out to me in a message.

Im not really concerned with the winter conditions as the Stinger gets parked December - March... the biggest concerns for me are volume and tone.

Essentially concerned that the MBRP setup will be too loud or boy-racer sounding with no way to turn it down... not so much worried about drone on the highway cause nearly every review says it's not an issue... but situations like leaving a stop light in town, or starting it up at 6am. While Im also nervous that the Jun BL setup will be too quiet with the valves closed and sound tinny/raspy with the valves open.

I know it's really hard to tell this stuff without hearing it in person

Hi Daniel,
Another exhaust noobie with a question: With the EVC system exhausts can those valves be connected to the Stinger OEM actuators or even the signals to the OEM actuators so that the valves operate as per the OEM bi-modal exhaust? Not really keen on a separate on/off button.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I just installed the SS MBRP exhaust (was an Xmas present) and can't be more pleased. It is definitely louder, but not obnoxiously so. Little to no drone at speed. I had pre-ordered tip from AliExpress so everything was ready before I started.
Install was very straightforward, I put the car up on jack stands and was able to do it myself in about 3 hours.
If you have questions about how the install went, let me know.

What tips are you using and how were they installed? I'm looking at exhaust options for the future, and I can't stand the stock tips, they look like every other car out there and I want something just a bit more aggressive to accent the styling. Definitely never buying the Borla exhaust tips, ridiculously expensive.

Not sure if you're still trying to find an exhaust but I was in the exact same predicament as you with trying to find real live sound. I have a G70 with a muffler delete, and a friend of mine has the Stinger with MBRP exhaust. We lined the cars up, did a couple of pulls to see if it was worth me buying the exhaust instead of sticking with the muffler delete.

Here's my thoughts:

Everyone is dead on when they say if you want no drone, go MBRP. It's nice. We both agreed that the muffler delete was definitely louder which ended up surprising us a little. On start up, the MBRP is a low growl as you described, it doesn't come off aggressive at all imo. Which is part of the reason I decided against it for me. It's very inexpensive compared to a lot of other options I was considering which was another plus, but I guess that is mainly due to the construction of it. Anyway, if muffler delete is a 10 on volume, I would probably put the MBRP closer to 8 on WOT. Maybe it's 6-7 on idle, Muffler delete was slightly drowning out MBRP.

For my personal tastes, MBRP was too quiet. And that might make it actually a good buy for what you're describing. I don't think you'll find anything worthwhile that is "marginally louder than stock" because stock sounds like the car has laryngitis and most exhaust companies are trying to remedy what a lot of customers felt was a drawback on G70/Stinger platform.

I think I have some videos buried somewhere in my phone. Anyway best of luck and let us know what you get!

I got the oval CF looking tips from Aliexpress. For MBRP you need 63 mm inlet. The outlet size is what they call size A 105x75 mm to match the stock size.
They just clamp on (clamps included). They come from China, so shipping might take a while.
One thing I found was that ordering in sets of two was cheaper shipping overall than ordering all 4 at once.
