Ok so just wanted to share. I got my stuff from Nick@ Khartunerz
just waiting on stingerhaus kit to show up

anyhow here is just the MBRP Catback alone. No other mods

This one is with MBRP + ARK DP

And MBRP + ARK + Injen Intake

Of course you cant really hear intake but ill try to get some more later.
Next will be JB4 but just going to wait a little for that.

Thanks!

Definitely one of the best sounding catbacks available for our Stingers. And sounds a little meaner with the DPs.

How’s the drone under light load from 1500-2500 with both installed? I know they have helmholtz resonators which should help a lot but assume there is still some drone. Let me know and would really appreciate if you can post an inside video under the conditions above if it’s not too much trouble.:D

So what was your impression as to how loud the exhaust alone was compared to the stock exhaust? I’m in California so I’m not going to be doing downpipes, just not worth the hassle every time I have to smog it. To be honest, I’m just looking for an exhaust that’s a little louder and someone who didn’t know the car may think it was a factory installed sport exhaust like BMW’s M Performance exhaust. Louder, but not so loud everyone knows it’s aftermarket.

Every video I see of this exhaust makes me want it more and more. I'm in California also and am not thinking of doing downpipes. You never know what California officer will be having a bad day and want to cite you on "noise violation"

Curious, I really want to run this exhaust. Can you hear the turbo spooling when accelerating casually?

If so, sold. I love that sound.

I doubt changing the exhaust will allow you to hear the turbo spooling much more since the spooling sound normally comes from the intake side. If you want turbo spool sounds just do intakes and you will get a lot of those beautiful sounds, even under mild acceleration.

But I do agree and want this exhaust too since it sounds so good.:D

Yep y the turbo spool sound is freed up more from intakes. The exhaust sound alone is pretty good but won't give you the turbo sound you are looking for. :)

I have the intakes. My previous car had DP and cat back and you could hear the turbo's when cruising around town out the tail pipes. It sounded amazing.

I can hear the turbo's through the exhaust in the videos with the MBRP and SSR/ARK downpipes. Curious if they are more apparent under load

This is what I am talking about, I know it will never be this loud, but a little turbo whistle would be cool

Never gonna happen. V8 with big aftermarket turbos.

Oh OK I understand what you're saying now, but hearing that whistle is most likely because of removing the cats and almost having a "turbo-back" exhaust setup. The cats cause the most restriction and block the most noise so if you removed all 4 cats you may get the turbo whistle from the tailpipes.

That car has stock turbo's! It's possible lol

I can't speak for all catbacks but I can confirm increased turbo whistle with Thermal CB. I don't see any reason why any others would be different.

I love this setup. So addicting. My one gripe with this exhaust + midpipes is that cold starts are LOUD.

Have you had any complaints from neighbors or family members? My wife hates my cold start before I leave for work in the morning...

Actually it doesn’t. The video says it’s an E500 which came with a naturally aspirated 5.0L V8. The AMG E63 had turbos, but not the E500. Them turbos is aftermarket.

I know what you’re saying about that turbo whistle though, sounds amazing. Unfortunately though, if no one has been able to accomplish it yet on a Stinger, it’s probably not possible.

I don't have a catback yet, just midpipes and intakes. Yeah, it's loud. Quiets down on the intake side after about 15 seconds. The midpipes are louder, too. But the intake noise at startup was quite a shock the first time.

I can still hear the intake noise at cold start but it's nothing in comparison to the exhaust rumble!

Actually you’re correct. I failed to read into that multiple times.

However, I could have sworn the W212 500 had turbos. Maybe I’m thinking of the E550

Sorry about that.

Would you mind taking a video of a cold start up. I have the AEM intakes and the ARK downpipe. I’m looking into getting a catback(ARK or MBRP) but not sure if it will be too loud on startup as I leave for work at 5am so waking up the neighborhood isn’t ideal.

Might as well do a drive by and take off video too while you’re at it, you know, for research and all. ;)
