Hey all,

So I just got done installing my MBRP catback exhaust this weekend. I also have ARK downpipes installed so I understand that it is suppose to be loud af.

The exhaust sounds great anywhere above 4k. It sounds like an Audi R8 which is pretty nice. However I am not very impressed with the exhaust sound below 4k. Its super raspy for my taste. Considering I'm in the city I feel like I need to drive like a grandmother in order to not seem like a civic driver. Not sure if anyone else has this happening with theirs, but I wouldn't doubt its because I'm running downpipes along with it.

I'm wondering if there is any way I can reduce the rasp by even 30% which would be nice.

You should take some sound clips to this “rasp” lol. I have ark downpipes & stock catback but the MBRP catback is on my future possible mod list.

Is this "rasp" you speak of a tinny sounding vibration? If so, try tightening the exhaust brackets that came with the exhaust. I was experiencing this at cold start and after some investigation, found that my brackets were too loose and the back two were even leaking slightly. Torqued all 4 of them down further with an air impact and no more leak and also no more tinny vibration at startup.

And if you haven't already, try out some of the exhaust tips that others are adding to see if it makes a difference for you. For under $200 they're worth a shot.

I swear I read on here that Tork was making catless resonated midpipes, but I can't find it.

I have the MBRP exhaust with tips. I wanted to get the ARK DP for more of a deeper growl but I currently love the level the MBRP is at at the moment. If I were to add the ARks how much would it get louder by? If I would say an mbrp is 5/10 in loudness would the arks bring it up to like a 7/10. 10 being lets say a mustang GT kinda loud.

Bought the silenced catless mids from Quicksilver. Thinking about pairing it with a Borla

I have the ARK DP and MBRP exhaust. It won’t give you a deeper growl, but it’ll be louder. As others have mentioned it can be a little raspy at lower RPMs. If it is bothersome might be an individual taste issue. But higher RPMs it’s really singing beautifully. I have found that exhaust tips will be a must, or other ways of preventing the sound from escaping under the car. The MBRP ends only slightly into the factory tips, leaving a rather large opening under there. I’m about to test out an extension of the MBRP pipes into the factory tips.

Thanks for the information. I was told the arks make it a deeper growl. Would you say that the arks make this setup louder by a whole lot? Im trying to gauge how loud this setup would be as I wouldn't want my neighbours complaining lol. I wouldn't mind having it a bit more loud but wouldn't want to be super obnoxious loud. The rasp I can live with though. Thank you again

I’m not sure how big difference it makes but I had heard some MBRP only setups and thought they were a bit too quiet. With the down pipe it’s borderline obnoxious at lower rpms ....but like I said really beautiful at higher rpms. So I guess it makes quite a bit of difference

Thank you for that. They say the Borla exhaust is obnoxious. So if it's not as loud as that then that would be great. Thanks again for your input

Here is a little video of stock vs MBRP with ARK DP I whipped up. Sorry for the low quality.

Honestly, for me, while it sounds GOOD it's a little too loud. I know I know I must be sensitive and I should of expected it but in hindsight I should of went with one or the other, not both.

The resonance in the cabin is a little much around the 2-2.5k. At first I thought it maybe because the 63x89 tips I had installed in the video were wedged in the stock cutouts so tightly that they were causing vibrations. I went with these smaller tips that clear the stock cutouts completely and lowered the sound so little, maybe not at all haha.

I am planning on getting the Quicksilver exhaust installed soon and I will see how it sounds with the ARK downpipes first and go from there.
