Hi All,

This is my first post on the stinger board. I will hopefully be a stinger owner next week....just working on a deal. I have a question regarding the manufacturing date. Both units I’m looking at are GT Limited. One with a 04/18 date and one with a 05/18 date. Think it matters?

No, take the one you like or is the best deal. I think anything built in 2018 should be ok.

Welcome to the forum. Look forward to seeing photos of your new Stinger.

I wouldn't worry about the build date anyway. Just check the cars thoroughly to see if there is the slightest indication of paint issues. The great majority of cars from the getgo appear to be fine paint-wise. So "buyer beware!" should never be laid aside, since we know, now, that some Stingers do have paint issues. The first thing to look for on a dealership lot is paint: around the forward end of the headlight assemblies (especially driver's side), pin pricks of any sort, edges especially above the windshield wipers, inside of trunk should be the same color as outside, gas lid should be fully sprayed, doors around the bottom edges fully sprayed; these are just some of the issues I've been reading about on the Stinger Forum over the last few months.

And i would look at the build dates. Nov and Dec 2017 appear to have a higher % of paint issues. My paint looked good on the lot until the chipping started. True it is missing paint on parts of the doors but dont know if all are like that. Paint seems brittle so more even spray wouldnt help that.

This paint situation isn’t good. What colour is your Stinger?

Ahah, would you inspect your car with "different eyes" now? None of this was even a suspicion back when you got yours. It isn't even a suspicion to most potential buyers now either. But if they have a heads up, they will be looking for details with the paint that the uninformed/unwarned will not, in all likelihood.

I agree, you look at a car in the showroom much differently than when you get it home and time passes. Same thing with the test drive. The only time I was not impressed with a test drive was with the underpowered Hyundai Veloster base model. I ended up with the turbo after it came out.
