So I realize launching is going to be a lot better with the tuned tcu but out of curiosity does this make manual shifting also feel different and quicker?
For me that's the largest benefit of a tuned TCU. I hated the delay between when you press the paddle and when the transmission finally shifts. This makes the shifts alot faster so that it's actually fun to use.

I keep hearing to make sure numbers match when doing these. Did your stock tcu have the same number as this?
