Heya folks. Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to post this. I found my car was not making any boost and shifting way high (4-5k) in all modes. Popped the hood and saw this:

I attempted to reattach it properly but it was way too cold to do outdoors and I didn't have a heated garage or heat gun handy. I took it to the dealership and they popped everything back in. They assured me that nothing could have been damaged especially since there was no CEL. I am wary of dealership service after some awful experiences so I just wanted to make sure I'm not being slow-walked here. Do I need to have the entire line inspected for debris or should the 100 or so miles I drove with the vehicle in that condition not be any concern? It's a bone stock 2019 GT2 (for now :)) fyi.

Why would the dealership even touch the charge pipe for just an oil change (was this service just an oil change?)? The oem covers on the clamp is missing too, did you buy your Stinger new or used?

That’s your charge pipe. They did something to that area. Glad I do my oil change.

Engine was replaced at 10k miles after a different dealer screwed up. Probably why things look different from the factory condition.

Call Kia concierge and make sure they note on your account this. Was the charge pipe coupling disconnected since the engine replacement or just a recent oil change? Either way, make Kia aware so if you have issues later, they don’t balk saying “we already gave you a new engine”.

I agree, make KMA aware of this asap just in case.

I have no confidence in Kia's ability to manage dealer mistakes after my experience. I took timestamped photos and made the dealer pull a work order for the issue. Is it worth it to take it further, in your experiences?

When my engine failed, they declined to replace my engine, put the onus on the dealer as a "workman issue", and the dealer completely ignored my repeated requests for a repair. It took KIA 2 months to reach that conclusion after being given all the evidence. I was forced to wrangle with insurance to replace the engine as a "possible sabotage" event. I got extremely lucky and they accepted the claim after I plead my case. MEanwhile the dealership kicked my car off the lot and had me tow it back and forth from their lot to my home twice while KIA "investigated". They almost forced me to do it a third time and refused to start the work unless they were paid in full in advance by the insurance company, despite assurances from this major insurance company to them that the check was on the way via snail mail. Caused me to go "overtime" on my rental. Fun.

After I got the car back, I looked under the hood. I might have taken a picture but I can't find it right now. It was not like that, so my assumption is that it came loose. with driving. I haven't done a thing to the car aside fill it up with gas and washer fluid. Part of my motivation for deciding on aftermarket mods was that it can't be any worse than the total amateurism, buck-passing, and flat-out disrespect I received from the dealers in the past. Hello, evne today when I had the issue fixed I asked them about why they recommended that I change the brake pads and tires despite the care being at 10k miles when I got it back. They replied they did not know (the tech who made the recommendation was not on shift). I asked for a tire rotation which included a brake inspection per their standards, not mine. When I got the car back and asked about the condition of the tires and brakes, they said "they're fine". When I asked for a status on the specific pad and tread depth for the brakes and tires respectively, I was told they don't do that on jsut a tire rotation... even though the service description says it on their brochures and at the cards on the tech's desks. Then, I observed a customer come in after me with a Sportage and her tech gave her a full report on her tread depth and brake status after receiving the same service. I said nothing, paid the bill, took the work orders and left. The jokes just write themselves.

For reference, every time I took my Mazda3 to a Mazda dealer for service, they gave me a report on current tread depth and brakes. No matter what. That was my understanding of "free multi-point inspection for every service", as this dealer claims. Maybe my past wrangling with them makes them treat me different, I don't know. I was respectful throughout the ordeal. The engine failure wasn't their issue but I have it on good authority they laughed at me when I had the car towed in and their service manager ran interference when the tech who originally diagnosed the engine failure put the root cause on a lazy tech who didn't torque a plug to spec. Alas, what choice do I have when they did the work and their work causes an issue?

Anyway, not trying to be a negative nancy, just want to cover my rear after all the burning its received these last 6 months.

What dealer was this? Not all dealerships - ok a lot of them are - are like this. Any other dealerships near you that you could start using in the future?

I take my GT2 to the dealer I bought her from, with all mods on and have never had an issue. They love my car and have never given me an issue with it. Just sucks that Kia has such an awesome car as the Stinger and the dealerships ruin it with this type of BS service and treatment of buyers.

I don't know if naming and shaming is allowed here, so I'll say this - there aren't many KIA dealerships in NH. All of them are sketchy in some way, in my experience. I never considered it before, but maybe MA has some better dealers.

I'm glad you've never had an issue. I have a feeling the moment I mod this car they won't want to touch it. Thankfully the law is kind of on consumer's side here - you can't refuse to warranty service a vehicle if a modification is not the root cause of a repair. Won't stop dealerships from fighting it, I expect.

Maybe I will mention it to KIA, but I expect the dealership will be super butthurt about it. And I wonder if that mean's more trouble if I ever return there for service.

The good news is it won't really hurt your car (I suppose it could ingest debris, but that's unlikely in the short time it was loose).

As Luminary said, there should be a cap on that hose clamp screw, so someone's been monkeying with it. Likely explained by the engine replacement, some knucklehead mechanic just forgot to tighten it.

As an isolated incident I wouldn't sweat it, but given your recent experiences, it's completely understandable to be pissed off.

What good is a 10 year powertrain warranty if Kia does everything in their power to avoid honoring it? Stories like this make me less inclined to purchase a Hyundai/Kia again. They boast in their marketing about their industry leading warranty but it's not worth the paper it's written on if they do shit like this.
