Hey Yall,

I am currently working out a deal with a dealership to secure a used 2019 Stinger GT2 AWD. I will be doing financing outside of the dealership so I am more concerned about whether or not I have a good price on it.
The car in question is Black with red interior, previous owner has done tasteful mods including a rear spoiler, and rebadging the car to the Korean logos. According to the dealer it also has an aftermarket exhaust, not currently mounted (Which I am in to) but I am not sure what brand it is. Lastly the car has 15,070 miles on it and has never been in an accident or had reported damage. I would be the second owner of the car so it is still very much under warranty.

The dealer is asking $41,000 for it. Is this a good deal?

I think people were getting brand new Stinger GT2 AWDs for almost that price earlier this year. I know used car prices are going up but I would think you could still get a brand new one for not that much more than that. The aftermarket parts should add almost no value to the car. The dealer isn’t going to give you any extra if you trade it in with those parts.

Hey thanks for your reply, what are your thoughts on a GT2 2020 with 5,000 miles for 45k?

I think it really depends on where you are. My local dealership had 25 Stingers on the lot earlier this year. They had 3 identical Panthera Gray with White interior RWD GT2 cars just like mine when I bought mine.

They were willing to discount cars quite heavily when I got mine.

I got my 2019 RWD GT2 with 20 miles on it late last year for $50,200 out the door with no trade in. Now that will seem really high except for the fact that I rolled in $2,000 of negative equity from the previous car and I opted for an extended warranty plan that added another $2,800. I also got Zero percent financing for 75 months. That is worth $4,500 over 3% financing. I also rolled our 3% tax into the loan.

All in they charged me about $41,000 for the car with the taxes included. This is a RWD car so figure another $1,500 or so for AWD.

I probably wouldn’t buy a new AWD GT2 for any more than $43k. However, the inventory is strong near me so they are much more willing to discount the cars.

Nice man, unfortunately there are none in my local area, I am in the northeast so AWD is ideal. I actually found this one about 4 hours from me. In my case I am not doing a trade in but I can get 60mo financing for 4k @ 4.04% or 60mo financing for 8k @3.97% do you think it is worth putting down the extra to have a lower payment and interest rate?

I never like to put money down on a car. That money can make so much more invested elsewhere. The stock market alone has done like 10% this year already.

I still think your best bet is to buy a brand new AWD GT2 even if you have to catch a flight and drive it back to get a good deal. Plane tickets are dirt cheap.

Just find a dealer on the East coast that has a ton of inventory. Negotiate a price over email and then fly down, get it, and drive it back.

Howdy. Seems a bit high to me, unless that ends up OTD. With the addons $41K isn't horrible. But I also like the suggestion to find one out of State. @KiaofMuncie comes highly recommended.

I just picked mine up last week for a few thousand less than that. It had 14k miles. You can negotiate a better deal.

Just found a second one with OTD at $42,500 and it is CPO. Thoughts on this offer? Same trim but this one is white

What's killing it too is that my taxes are 3.5k being that I am in NYC, but the offer is based on a sales price of 39,500

If you send your VIN, I can get a better idea of what the dealership is looking at when speaking with you.

Based on NY here's what they're looking at, hence why they believe their price is very competitive despite better deals outside the state. Until local dealerships decide they want to compete nationally, there will be these roadblocks.

Sometimes dealerships are willing to cut you a break if you bring them some postings of similar vehicles.

Thank you for this! Mileage on this one is just a bit higher, 16,772

At 16,772 it's the same price in the Black Book

But I see, so if I am understanding this correctly I am paying about $2,500 more than average for nyc?

No, for NY the state adjustment is -$100 so you're paying less than the national average. Also, the asking price is actually about $2300 less than the national average for a clean vehicle. Now, if you notice any material defects (chips, scratches, etc.) or a car that hasn't been appropriately detailed and reconditioned then it's overpriced by about $1000.

  • Clean: Very little interior or exterior wear. The vehicle is 100% mechanically sound. Any paint repair is almost unnoticeable. The vehicle should be accompanied by a clean history report. All tires should fully match and have good to excellent tread. There should be fewer than average miles for the model year.
  • Average: The vehicle is solid with substantial serviceable life remaining, but normal interior and exterior wear is allowable. Any previous paint repair must only be apparent to the trained eye. There could be minor mechanical or maintenance work required. Tires should be in average condition or better and there should be typical miles for the model year.
