Me and my fiancé bought a Kia stinger almost a year ago. It’s all wheel drive 3.3 L possibly need to replace timing chain and update the camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor. Possibly need to do the fuel pump if those don’t work just looking for someone to help out with that! Kia said that we needed a whole new engine and talking to other Kim stinger owners. They’ve been told the same and it has not been the problem.

Welcome. Just noting that this topic has been moved out of the community lounge and into the main Stinger talk forum.

What's the problem? What model year is yours? The engine is warrantied up to 100K miles and ten years. If KIA says "new engine" it's on them inside that period.

So Kia said it was the engine however talking with a lot of Kia stinger owners they said that it could be basic maintenance and the crankshaft positioning sensor along with the camshaft positioning sensor, and if that doesn’t fix the problem, then it could be the fuel pump or the timing chain. Essentially what’s going on right now is when you turn it on it takes a good 45 seconds to turn on continuous crank time and when you take corners, you have to let off the gas or else will bog out the engine lights on, so we’re essentially trying to start with the lesser to see if that works before we get a new engine

No worries so essentially my 2018 Kia stinger GT two started with an elongated crankshaft time of about 45 seconds to actually start and every time we take a turn it tends to bog out if you don’t let the gas we took it to Kia dealership and they said that it was the engine, but the codes that are popping up are the crankshaft positioning sensor camshaft positioning sensor and it’s misfiring on all six cylinders so we’re trying to figure out if it’s something more simple compared to a bigger problem like the engine when it only has about 50,000 miles on it. We also don’t know if it was taken care of by the previous owner with basic maintenance.

Wow, nasty set of symptoms alright. Why won't KIA pursue troubleshooting before saying "replace the whole engine?" That's the curious question to me.

Not to sure to be honest we have a mechanic in the family and he even said it’s definitely not the engine. I honestly just think they’re looking for money. We don’t have any warranty on it. They said we were 5000 over smh We got it from Carmax and this Started happening five months after we got it and of course we had just refinanced so we lost Carmax care so they couldn’t do anything about it either

Yeah, I didn't ask if it was a CPO. Second owner, non CPO, you get six years and 50K miles, on powertrain, iirc. That explains why KIA wanted to replace the engine, as you say, "looking for more money". Screw 'em. As long as your engine isn't trashed, you'll find the source and fix it. Good to have a family mechanic! But whatever the repair is, it's going to be expensive, maybe even push to used engine replacement territory. I hope Ima wrong about that.
