Ok, first off ... New here .... Both to this previously unimaginable Kia product and this awesome wealth of knowledge ... Thanks to all of you!
Anyhow, I recently purchased a Stinger with a bit of a checkered past ... and a long story to go with its short lifespan thus far. I purchased a Panthera Metal 2019 AWD 2.0T base model that had been totalled in NJ back in Feb. Now she's in a totally different world in Idaho. I'm bringing her back from the dead and building her to be far more than she was the day she rolled off the assembly line. Only thing is .. there is much for me to learn along the way. (For some reason, thoughts of Yoda pop into my head after re-reading that statement .... Hmmmmm.)
I've never owned a turbocharged vehicle. I have worked on very few. Most of those have been diesels. I know the basic mechanics & such behind the boost, but am lacking in the technical info & specifics of a turbo system ... especially one on a vehicle this new, brimming with technology.
The stock intercooler was slightly damaged, but leaking pressure. The boring, not-so-awesomely engineered original replacement just doesn't seem like a good "fit" at this point in the game. For the few of us that have the 2.0, there seem to be almost no aftermarket options. The custom kitted Maintec Performance intercooler appears to be one of the best options ... especially for time savings. I don't want to sink the time nor money into a pipe fabrication job. So ... I'm most likely taking the plunge on that this weekend. Has anybody got and feedback on that setup, by chance?
Blah ... Enough of the background yip-yap. This is where my real questions begin. I know very little about blow off valves and/or recirculating valves. Is there risk in choosing one over the other? I really don't want to blow this sucker up or cause some sort of catastrophic failure ... of course. This vehicle has already had a hard enough of a life. I mean, the blow off sound is kinda fun and all .... But I'm more about efficiency and results over rolling down the road sounding like some 20 year old, Frankensteined Honda Civic. But seriously .... What would work best? After my extensive (haha) couple weeks of internet research, I'm guessing with all the electronics/sensors on board this thing, there probably is something better & more responsive to use, right?
Any info, suggestions, and/or details of someone else's experience & knowledge in this arena would be greatly appreciated.
..... and thank you for wading all the way to the bottom of the mini-novel.
