Long Term Wrap Up

I'm new to the Stinger world, but it's nice to read they felt the same way about my car a year later that I do now.

When I go over a bump, I get the hatch rattle.

I get random rattles every now and then. It's just the car telling me to turn up the music

I’ve always enjoyed the writers at Automobile magazine. Can’t stand the elitist, stick up their butt writers over at Motor Trend and Car and Driver

Their only real complaint, the Lane Keep Assist? I find that odd as that’s one of the few nannies that can be permanently disabled.

Cool. Hopefully this will be hardcopy in the February issue. I have the previous two articles starting and updating the Stinger long term review. The update involved a critique by the Original Venice Crew. :D That is a fun read.

"Gold even had a run-in with the long arm of the law while cutting through Nevada; luckily for him, the Kia's good looks and then-newness got him off with a warning."

Yes, I have experienced this: FOUR times!? Amazing.

I received the hard copy and it’s a good review. This is the last issue of Automobile magazine. I received an email say they are shutdown and gave me a year of digital Motor Trend. Not a big fan but I will read it.

Crap! Really?! First Autoweek and now Automobile. I hate this world.

I like having a few car magazines to read while "doing God's work", aka going to the bathroom. Cellphones are not tactile like flipping through pages of pictures of cars.

(edit to add: a friend who passes his Automobile Magazine copies to me was upset to learn this from me today, as he handed me the February issue: containing the Stinger Long Term Wrap Up article. He checked his email and had not received this notification of the shutdown. So, I wondered if I/we fell for "I learned it on the Internet, so it must be true." But, this is actually old news, I find out: TEN Publishing Kills 19 Automotive Print Publications Including Automobile [Updated]. So much for that.)

I'm waiting for my rotors to warp.

Nice review. Have to say that I agree with the "nanny" features being annoying. I understand why they are there but there should be an option to turn off features such as collision avoidance and there isn't. I know others have different feelings about this and we will agree to disagree. The damn feature has nearly gotten me killed in traffic a couple of times with braking I was unprepared for because i was hitting it pretty hard. Lets be real, if you have this car and aren't taking advantage of the power in this thing, then why do you have this car?
The lane assist features freaked me out in rain especially in my 2018 Stinger when I first got it and the car almost went back to the dealer the same day I drove it home in really heavy rain. I love this car and have very little to complain about otherwise.

I think that ALL the "nanny" features are optional in Settings.o_O

Thanks for the response Merlin but I've found no way to turn off Collision avoidance. You have to remember to turn it off every time you start the vehicle. By default when you turn off the vehicle and restart, it will be back on by default. If you know of a way, please share :)

I guess that collision avoidance is like ISG; some features are ON be default. It's easy to remember to turn ISG OFF, and it's a single push of a button.

Yes, its interesting (and annoying) the pieces of technology they made always on by default. I actually like the ISG feature and in my experience it is the best implemented one I have come across. Every other implementation I have come across in other cars drives me nuts and I have to turn it off.
