I have been capped by the wife for car toys this summer due to world wackiness ongoing. My gt2 awd has jb4 and now needs a friend. Either bms intake or mbrp and I’m so undecided which way to go! Convince me of one or the other please!!

I've always done exhaust first. Better to give the air an easier way out than to try and force more into something restricted. Plus the DIY intakes are fairly inexpensive. Can be passed off as house parts.

I'd say the intake to wet your appetite - I'm seriously thinking of ordering the exhaust (i got my amp dosh back this morning!) so could arrange a few flybys your place, not sure if that helps any!

I was watching the youtube clips last night and sounds like a tasteful tone from the mbrp - would you guys agree?

Definitely more gains / fun to be had from exhaust on a 3.3 turbo but i'm loving the intake also with the windows down

You are a wise and good man. I am now leaning heavily toward the exhaust to be honest

Do you like whoosh whoosh tssst noises or vroom vroom noises more?

I came from a C6 sporting corsa catback... it is always good clean vroom lol

Go for the Exhaust if its one or the other, the exhaust is more expensive, so it will be easier to save the $ for the intake down the road. (Plus if you really want a Pshhh in the meantime, just unplug the return lines from the BOV's.)

I think we have a consensus here!

For fun this has been my benchmark for a while and was lucky enough to drive with the challenge exhaust on the streets and managed to keep my license at the same time!!

and that C6 corsa sounds like a riot also!

If you do go for the exhaust, I would highly recommend changing the tips as well. I had a lot of drone in the cabin till I got rid of the factory fake tips

See if you can score the MBRP for 10% off and use the "savings" to do a DIY intake (<$100).
BOOM, you're still on budget!

^ Antonio beat me to it.

For those of us in Canada I've found Uniq to be an excellent choice. Rob's great to work with.

Ya I've tried them....nothing to jump up and down about but another option from Tdot who also try hard and have the stuff uniq doesn't. Then again uniq has the stuff Tdot doesn't However tdot's shit choice of courier is pissing me off waiting for my sways right now.

I can;t imagine why the tips would cause drone .........................???

Because they are not connected to the exhaust and cause reverb under the rear bumper and trunk area.. The stock tips are like No tips.
People get the akrapovik tips tgat bolt to the exhaust and create a seamless channel for the exhaust sound to exit behind the car instead of under it.

He's a nice guy but you realize he just drop ships the item to your door, it doesnt actually come from Uniq's shop.

I bought a Ark catback cost me 300$ more then everywhere else but I figured since it would already be coming from Canada then it was ok.

Nope guy just adds on 300$ to the price and drop ships it, you're handing your money to a middle man. You're better to buy from the US and have it shipped to your door. I've bought 3K worth of other stuff from US. No duties or taxes....car parts are even on the free trade list so no duties or taxes applied...google it

You're better off to buy a intake, jb4 and plugs for the same price as a catback, sure exhaust makes more noise but the intakes and jb4 will put more of a smile on your face.

I have injen intakes and love them, prefer the sound of boost to a overly loud exhaist

You make very good points:thumbup: But I would say it's a stretch to call the MBRP an overly loud exhaust;)
