License Plates

Just got my plates yesterday and TX requires both rear and front plates.

The Kia factory base works perfectly, all the holes line up with the plate giving a firm, no rattle, installation.

The front is similarly solid but none of the holes in the front structure mate up with any on the plate. I don't want to drill the plate, pretty confident some on the forum have worked out a good solution. Don't want to have to "reinvent the wheel" so to speak. Thanks, Don

The plates should mount to a plate holder… that mates to the bumper cover.

If they didn’t give you the holder, go back to them.

yep, our front license plate holder was in the glove box... it's just a long rectangular piece of plastic with a few screws.. thankfully tn doesn't need them.

Nothing there but things around the house have been nuts but I just don't think I'd have trashed something like that. Oh, well, I'll drop by the dealer and see if they have some.

Yeah, plates on the front are simply ugly and who wants anything that might in even the slightest fashion, interfere with airflow to the radiator and intercooler? Don

If you don't have a mount screwed to the front of the car, please don't. Instead, get one of the mounts that attaches to the lower grille, or better, one of the tow hook mounts. If mine had not already had the factory mount attached from the dealer, I would have gone for the tow hook mount.

It does have a rugged black plastic mounting surface under the main grille. I suspect I can get the dealer to find one.

Even so, no way to make a front end license plate be attractive. Don
