Local dealer has a 2018 GT2 AWD (MSRP $52,850) for sale. Red exterior, black interior. It is their showroom model.

I inquired and the dealer offered a price of $49,552 which I obviously am not even considering. Just curious what do you think a reasonable price range is for a leftover 2018 now that 2020 are starting to hit the lots? Do you think I'm being unreasonable to hope for this car to drop below $40k before TTL? I would be doing 0% financing in lieu of lease cash. I believe I am eligible for conquest (2014 Audi S4).

18 gt2 AWD sitting on a lot this long should go for $42 or less. Tell him to shove that price up their corn hole.
I think there were people getting that car for like 40k 4 months ago.

My concern is there is basically zero incentives from Kia at the moment so the dealer is eating the loss if they sell the car that cheap. Wondering if they will actually go that low or if I'm being a nutcase to even try.

Lower for sure. But I'm not going to assert that you can get a full 10K dealer discount. Low to no miles and coddled its entire brief "life" so far? If the car hasn't been used as a demo, has been in the showroom the whole time, is pristine, quiet, perfect, etc: then it is worth as much now as it was in 2018. It's every bit the same car it was then. OTD I'd be satisfied with 10% off MSRP. More off would, of course, be more satisfying.

I purchased my leftover but "new" 2018 AWD GT2 on May 10th for 40,025. At the time, it was cheaper than what I could've bought a used one with 5k miles or so. I think 38-39k is very doable right now. Here's what I did. I found 2 dealers in my area that had the car I wanted. I physically went to one dealer and called the other dealer on the phone. I basically acted as a mediator between the two as they battled it out for my business. " They came down to this..can you do better? Yes we'll come down to this" and round and round they went until we got down to what I felt was a fair number and the other dealer couldn't go any lower. Kinda sleazy I know but it got me a pretty good deal I think so I'm happy. Good luck in your negotiations!

Jb4, exhaust and some basic cosmetic mods likely is where I'll stop. Maybe lowering springs.

Nice. All solid things to do for the car. Yeah I've thought about springs but am too afraid I might scrape on an abnormally high bumper somewhere. I think from factory they did a decent job with the wheel size and gap.

None of the springs available are that low. I’ve got Eibach on AWD. And I can go over speed bumps like normal.

you won’t have an issue unless you bag or coil over the car.

Or drive over a raised center median in the dark. Coming up on my one year "anniversary" of that misadventure: I've always remembered, each time (as now) that anyone talks about a lowered car: had mine been even one inch lower it would have died.

Thanks for the update i will be keeping this price in mind when i go try and get the 2018 GT2 i am looking at. How hard was it to get them to that price.

Very. They didn't want to lose that much money on it but decided I was the first serious buyer they've had in a long time for it so they couldn't let me walk. Also what helped is the owner had been driving the car so it didn't have 7 miles on it anymore. Still new title though.

Also important is that the Kia incentives didn't apply to 2018 models. Only 2019. So the dealer is getting left out to dry on these cars

Yeah the one i am looking at they have listed for 48K its the only stinger on the lot in Montana in an approaching winter lol. and oddly enough the place is also a VW dealership and i am cross shopping the stinger with a Golf R apples and oranges cars i know

So tell them to take the loss on it because if they haven’t sold it by now they aren’t going to sell it.

2019 GT2 cars are going for less than $39k.

Offer them $35k for a 2018 or just buy a 2019 once the 2020 models hit the show rooms.

I bought my 2018 Stinger GT2 in December of last year for $45K it had 15 miles on the odometer and they wanted $54K but would come off the price because of the down payment I made. I don’t think you should buy a leftover 18’ for more than $40-42K.
