Hi everyone,

I'm seeing a lot of good deals out of state, Colorado for some reason has horrendous deals on the Stinger GT2 (prices are still in the high 40's low 50's). I'm looking to do the lease then buyout method out of state, but I am getting A LOT of push back from the dealers. One has said they do not offer out of state leasing, the other has said they do not offer leasing on pre-owned vehicles. Are these statements legitimate or hogwash? Or do dealers have the authority to do this?

KIA, to my knowledge, does not do lease on used vehicles. Why would you want to lease a used vehicle? Not sure how that would work. If you have done this before, please share the details. Thanks.

1) Dealers have the ability to lease out of state, many won’t because it’s more difficult. Call more dealers to try to find one that will work with you.

2) I’ve never heard of leasing a used vehicle.

Have leased over 20 new cars, never have seen used car leasing. Some of my leases were out of state.

It's possible to lease used vehicles, usually through 3rd parties not dealerships. Most people just don't do it as the numbers are unfavorable and there aren't tons of manufacturer incentives that usually make leases worth it in the first place.

As far as leasing out of state, it's totally possible - my GT2 is on it's way to me as we speak traveling across the country from Oregon to Indiana. Totally up to the dealers what type of deals they are willing or not willing to make, so "authority" is totally theirs.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Okay, that makes sense that I can't lease a used Stinger and get the lease incentive. Since the dealer is refusing to do an out of state lease, have you ever heard of a dealer letting you do the lease buyout immediately if you let them know your intentions are not leasing? Do all dealers know they get the same amount of money whether they lease or buy or do they think they lose money on a lease buyout?

From what I understand, the dealers actually do lose some money on the deal if you buyout the lease within 90 days.

But regardless of that, you couldn't do the lease buyout immediately even if you wanted to. The whole lease deal has to be approved and funded by Kia before you'd even have a buyout to make. So you're talking about at least a few weeks to a month to let Kia get their ducks in a row before you even have an official account to send a check to.
