Hi, looking to replace my wrecked stinger and the one I am currently looking at does not have launch control.

Does anyone know how it works and if there is any specific hardware associated with it, or is it all software?

Thinking of getting this car and wondering if I can add launch control to a stinger GT2.

Does anyone have any specific knowledge on this? Or has anyone done this before?

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

I know that all US Stingers have launch control, from the 2018 Base to the last GT2. What are the trim specs of this car you are looking at? "No launch control" does not compute.

2018 GT2

Seems to be a mostly loaded GT2. Does not have surround view or heated steering wheel.

I think with exception of launch control has everything else.

My now totaled car had it and options wise was identical except for launch control.

It does have launch control, you just must not know how to use it. Put the car in sport mode, press and hold the traction control button until it turns off completely, push brake down hard, push throttle to the floor and launch control will pop up and make a ding sound.

There was no "surround view" until 2020 in the US, and only on the GT2.
Heated steering wheel was an option on all trims, so, some vehicles have it some do not.
Launch control was absolutely included with all trims, it wasn't an option.
I've never heard of launch control going away. How do you know that the car doesn't have it?

It launches. My car has been wrecked for so long I forgot you need to floor it to get it to engage.

Thanks for setting me straight!

Yes. Only recently did I "discover" that I haven't been actually using LC properly. I was seeing "launch control ready", and just assumed when I let go of the brake and pushed the gas that I was "launching". No. As you said, floor it, or you won't see "launch control active". If you don't see that message, then LC disengaged. I wondered idly at times why some launches were more vigorous than at other times. Hah. To make absolutely sure that you engage LC, push the kickdown switch.

Just bought it. I feel whole again. My stomach just dropped when we got rear ended in the first Stinger.

Mine was not damaged any deeper than the crash bars, so not totaled. Why did it take you so long to replace your Stinger.

We were stopped at a red light. The car behind us was also stopped. The car behind us was hit so hard that the collision calculations concluded the car that was stopped behind us was accelerated to 30 MPH before it hit us. It was crumpled up past where the rear section joins up with the next section. Also really tweaked it so the hatch didn’t line up anymore.

Insurance wanted to fix it, I said no. It took me a minute to find someone to go against the insurance and give a proper repair estimate.

No additional hardware
100% software.

You could just add a brake snip mod with a switch, if you care that much.

You have to wonder if the idiot was on their phone, "looking for alternate routes" or something, while their "autopilot" did the driving. That was the scenario around here with a Tesla, and the woman had been "driving" that way for two years before it bit her.
