I learned to drive with a old '53 ford station wagon with loose steering and when I first felt the LKA nudging me back and especially changing lanes without turn signal, my instinct was to correct for the looseness in the steering, took a few WTFs to figure it out :)

LKA is making me a better driver, now I signal before changing lanes and don't wander around in the lane. Starting to love it

I like it too, for the most part. The main issue I have with it is the torque-based "hands on wheel" detection, which requires you to fight it a little bit once in a while for it to know your hands are there. On straight roads where no correction is needed for a while, it can be quite annoying to get that warning time after time.

I disabled it but left the noise indicator on. The interstate here is under construction all the time and the system would go nuts over the crossing lines. They barely took any old markers off before marking them with new ones. Now i just get a beep alert instead of an attempt to correct. When in the rain it would almost feel like the car was trying to hydroplane.

LKAS is wonderful feature. I only use it during the time I get distracted (ex. operating infotainment system).
One question I always had is that how does it decide when it's ready for full active LKAS (turning grey lane marks into green)
It doesn't seem to be consistent.

Based on what the cameras are seeing and its confidence in knowing where the lane markers are.

You are right. but sometimes steering wheel signs doesn't appear for good long time when the condition seem to be good (sunny, clean windshield) and still has the warning feature making pretty good warning when I drive on the lane marker. This tells me it's reading correctly but I guess my car wasn't confident..

@Wilzer it isn't making YOU a better driver; it is taking over part of how you learned to drive. You are only learning to back off and let a "nanny" take charge. Damnation, man. Oh, well.

The other comments are just short of horrifying: reminding me of how the local gal in her Tesla last spring came a cropper on the rear end of a stationary fire truck. She was "distracted" to say the least. Come on, people, just drive; don't get distracted doing something/anything else. If working the infotainment system distracts you, don't do it. Ye gods! don't depend on some AI nanny to keep you from doing something stupid while you are paying attention to anything else.

This is a rant, I know. If you care to ignore it or disagree, that's fine with me.

I agree that the lane keep assist isn't making you a better driver, but perhaps the lane departure warning is. I do my best to keep it between the lines, as well as using my turn signal before changing lanes, and think of the warning as a little slap on the wrist to correct my sins.

I'm still getting used to the system as well since my Optima just had the passive alert, so I have decided to turn it off entirely. I will use it on longer highway trips but I noticed the active LKS is not consistent, which is annoying. Furthermore, it doesn't always recognize my hands being on the wheel and alerts or disables itself. I don't trust the system in it's current state and end up fighting with it and my local interstate is undergoing major construction, which only makes things worse .

I found a useful situation for LKA today. On a short interstate drive there was a vicious crosswind that managed push my 4000lb Stinger around pretty well. I turned LKA on and it really helped settle the car down and made the drive more relaxing. I have LKA set on the normal/medium/middle setting--not sure of the exact name in the settings. I usually leave LKA on, but turn it off when I think of it if I am driving on congested multi-lane roads.

My daughter drove ~200 miles in the Stinger this afternoon, and liked the feature. On tight twisty stuff pushing hard she said she didn't even notice because you're so busy on the wheel, but more sweeping stuff it does a nice job of alerting you to the road limits - nice in an unfamiliar car.
