Kia is apparently feeling confident enough in the early sales figures of its new Stinger sedan to be mulling ideas for future variants of its GT-inspired fastback. The brand's North American product planner tells AutoGuide it wants to keep the nameplate's lineup fresh with frequent updates and additions.

If they let Biermann loose on thing thing without worrying about Genesis, they could very well do a lighter version with a V8 or boost the power on the 3.3T for better balance and make it romp with the Panamera. Or they could use that new 3.0 (or the 2.5T they are developing) they came out with, turbo charge that thing, stick in in the between the 2.0T and the 3.3T or add a performance hybrid powertrain. So may ideas pop in my head when I hear this.

I'm excited

They want to put the 5.0 out of the K 900 this thing weighs enough as it is . I firmly believe that there is plenty of room left in the 3.3 T to equal The 420 HP that the 5.0 puts out and surpass the torque , and still be able to warranty it .

I doubt they'll ever really put a V8 in the Stinger. It's just not necessary. They can get plenty of power out of the 3.3 liter V6 to compete any which way they want. AND warranty it...

I read a similar article on Home - The Korean Car Blog where in Orth statement he said "some dealers haven't sold on yet".

“We’re looking at it (different Stinger variants),” Hendrick said. “The reaction has been phenomenal to (the Stinger). We’re doing great, we have a very high mix of buyers, a lot coming from Optima, so we’re looking to see if we can grow that. And I think there might be other opportunities down the road. It’s a little early yet, we just got the car on the market, and we still have a handful of dealers who have never sold one yet. We’ll probably wait for a while to get some data in and see what the reaction will be, how people feel about the brand, and then we’ll probably build (the Stinger lineup) out from there.”

I figure there are still those folks that are asking for a deposit or want to run credit checks before anyone drives the car and are marking it $5K+. I would want to get that car out there for everyone to see and would let anyone that wants to drive it take it out for a spin. In a few months they will have no choice but to drop the price to move it out. Sad.

Give us the damn 360 camera in all variations!

Doubtful as well, unless Genesis works on a smaller displacement FI V8.

The new Theta III 2.5L will put out around 300 HP for the Stinger, so wouldn't be surprised at all if the next gen Lambda V6 engines exceed the 400 HP mark.

And then there's using battery power to provide instant torque.

Yeah, the V8 is gone. Perhaps they'll eventually start piping sound through the exhaust system because lots of people can't seem to go on any longer without the sound of a V8. RIP.

^ Esp. as no more V8 for the AMG variant of the C Class (which will be a combo of a twin-turbo I6 and battery power).

But that doesn't mean that Genesis won't be developing a smaller displacement FI V8 for the top variants of the G80 and G90 (still need a V8 even if aided by battery).
