Hi,

I’m considering buying a used Kia Stinger with the 4 cylinder base engine or a used Dodge Charger with its base V6. Which one do you think I should buy, and why?

Thanks.

Both are compromised from the performance model standpoint (both have better drivetrain options). I honestly wouldn't get the Charger/Challenger with anything less than the 5.7L Hemi or the Stinger without the 3.3TT, although the new 2.5T Stinger is closing that gap.

If buying based on looks/design, then I suppose it doesn't matter what we reply with since it's subjective. Cars are machines, so I always look at the mechanics first and styling a distant second. Both vehicles with the beefier engines were on my short list and chose the Stinger. When shopping for my vehicle Dec 2020 the Chargers were overpriced. Now everything is overpriced.

The charger interior looks sooooo cheap.
Other than that, I don't know. For me, in EU, the 2.0 Stinger has enough power. And it came with everything else you could get on the V6.
Not so many big engines around. The fuel price and taxes on big engines make them super luxury items.

Honestly finding a used Sxt that wasn't a fleet mobile or has krazy miles is kinda difficult in my area (NC) . The stinger on the other hand is not much better when it comes to finding a low mileage one without paying almost gt, gt1 Price's. But the charger is cheaper to get into than the stinger (in my area). If it was my piggy bank i'd pay a little more for the stinger because of the better features.

100% Kia Stinger, any V6 Charger will be worth nothing when you go to sell it, those things are a dime a dozen. The Stinger will be just as fast if not faster, better fuel economy, nicer interior, more rare on the roads, and if you want to make it quick it will be easy with a tune.

You posted the same question on dodge forum, didn't you?

I would do the same, what's wrong with seeking out both sides of the argument?

Stinger will have the better interior and handling, but the 2.0 is pretty down on power compared to the newer 2.5L 4-cyl. Probably about even with the 6cyl charger (too lazy to look up 0-60 numbers)

People on Prius forum can answer this question much better

V6 Charger awd:
6.5 0-60mph / 14.9@95mph

2.0T Stinger awd:
6.1 0-60mph / 14.7@95mph

Difference is you can toss a JB4 on the Stinger and blow the socks off the Charger which is a much weaker platform for tuning since it's not FI.

The Stinger would be the choice for me, without question. The interior is leagues better. It will be a sportier ride. It can accommodate larger items with the rear seats folded down. If you're going to tune the car, it will be much easier to get more power.

The Charger does have the advantage of being a lot bigger, so backseat passengers will have more room. It's also easier to get into the car for people who aren't as limber. It will probably be cheaper to maintain than the Stinger, since parts are super common. It's also a common undercover LEO car, so people will get out of your way when you're in the fast lane.

I'm pretty sure the base (2.0T / V6) optioned Chargers, Mustangs, and Camaros are fleet/rental cars, which hurts resale but might mean you can find them cheaper in the market right now. The Charger/Challenger with the base V6 are the slowest of three, if that matters.

Drive the two and see which you like more.

You wanna not be able to find your car in the store parking lot, go with the charger. Dime o' dozen as has been said. BUT...I also like what @Dwdrummr1 said, so yeah...go with the charger! ;)
