Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I recently bought a 2019 Kia stinger GT-Line S 2.0 as a first car a few months back so I'm not really clued on with how it works just yet.

I haven't passed my test so it's been sat in the driveway a few months, although I have driven it on a few occasions.

Here's all the information of what's happening and what I've done.

I went to open the car using the key fob, the car lit up as usual and then unfolded its mirrors but when attempting to open the doors they wouldn't open.

I attempted to lock the car and reopen it again but no response this time and as of now the mirrors are folded outwards still and no lights flash when any button is pressed.

I opened the car with the physical key and attempted to start the engine, the no key detected error displayed so I then attempted to push the key fob onto the stop/start button but that didn't work either.

After trying this a few more times the dashboard went completely blank and would no longer respond to me pushing the button.

A few things I've noticed are when operating the electric hand brake the brake light on the dashboard display, and only that.

When holding the tailgate power button I get a few beeps but the tailgate doesn't open.

What I'm worried about is that the 12v battery has died but wouldn't that affect the dashboard lights and attempted tailgate operation beeping?

Something I also did was when I bought my faraday pouches I took them inside the car with the keys inside to see if the car could detect them. For some reason this messed with the car a little and it wouldn't detect the key even when taking it out of the faraday pouch and asked me to push the key on the stop/start button which successfully started the car, but then one of the key fobs stopped responding and only one key would remotely open the car.

Is there some sort of anti-theft system that has triggered?

Does anyone know of similar issues like this or how I can get my keys to be detected by the car again?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yes and no. You still have enough charge to run low power accessories, like bulbs. You lack enough power to turn the engine over or operate more hungry accessories.

Just a dead battery. Give it a full charge with a proper charger and you'll be fine.

before that, I'd just change the cr 2032 cells in both fobs. they usually last longer than four years but I changed mine out at that point and noticed an improvement in all fob response related 'issues'. it was the shortened range to lock the car that was my first clue. any residual car battery left will still unlock or lock the doors. that you are seeing dash lights once inside indicates that the fobs are the fault.

Agreed all around. Charge the battery, have it tested if you can. Replace the batteries in the fob. I have an '18 and have had to get new fob batteries. Need to plan my battery replacement though.

Dumb question, does your car have the power lift gate?
