Hey guys

New to the forum. A couple months ago I purchased a stinger GT. Absolutely love the car. I got the 3.3 twin turbo RWD model. I still have warranty for a couple of years and was curious about mods that can be done that will not void the warranty. I am guessing a number of you guys have had similar thoughts :) Mostly curious about intercooler, cold air intake, blow off valves, and possibly a JB4 tune, though i figure that last one most assuredly will void warranty. Appreciate any thoughts or ideas. Thanks

None of those will void warranty out of hand. I read this a couple of days ago: New member (used GT2) Warranty work guarantee doesn't get any better than that! :D

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for your reply MerlintheMad. I can only hope for me that what happened for that guy in the post is indicative of the norm. lol Most of the mods he has are what i am looking to get. Taking it to the dealership next week for a factory recall SC196 and plan on asking all these questions !!! :D Love the car and very happy to find a forum of like minded individuals !!!

it's dependant on the dealership and management if they are fine with mods. Mine is fine with me bringing in mine with all the bolt on mods availble but that's because I am the warranty lol.

Question has been tossed around a bit in the forum so opinions may vary.......My 2-cents worth is mod it til your heart's content but consider if something goes bad and Kia pins it on you, can you take care of the fix out of your own pocket????

I had an engine replaced and there was "minor" evidence that could have put the blame in my court but the fact that ALL service had been done at dealer and I had copies of all my service records, kept me from footing the bill and getting it replaced under warranty claim. I could have covered a new engine but it would have burst my bubble. After new engine, removed jb4 and still have it to this day(not the jb4's fault...very good product). It will be going up for sale though......Just didn't see the risk being worth my bank account....Running the car on a tune takes high maintenance to keep things running sweet and your pocketbook safe and sound.....the new engine was a d@mn hoot though!!!!!!! Dealer must have put a little "spice" in the ECU after putting new engine in.....lol

Just my thoughts...

All of those kinda void your warranty...

First ask your dealership, if they install the aftermarket parts that you provide? If so will the warranty still be intact? If so ask for it in writing and go through them.

If no your option is to remove all aftermarket parts when servicing and warranty claims. If they find out you modded they will enter it in the system and your car will have a notice on it as such in the system.

Outside of that you should be okay in all cosmetic mods. Any splicing of wires is Grey area so be warned doing Led lights n such.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act can be spewed, however trust me it will be a never ending battle. Kia is crappy already with warranting premature ware imagine aftermarket parts.

Personally, performance mod wise I have a bms pedal tuner which is enough for the time being. When my warranty runs out or is near 80k miles I will do a refresh and put logicz ecu, Lsd, awd, etc tune on my car with the supporting intakes, fuel updates, exhaust, etc. But for now nothing.

Then again it may be better to mod during the warranty if it goes hay wire. Remove everything and get it fixed. (I'm not condoning this just stating a hypothetical)

Thank you everyone for your input and thoughts. I see all the mods out there and I get curious, but truth be told, bone stock I love how the car rides and the power it has. I will run it past the dealership when I take it in next week. Will post a follow up after I speak with them to add to the forum for that question. I look forward to being on this forum. Thanks again everyone

Just be careful not to get hoodwinked!!!!! Some owners on here have done the same thing by putting their confidence in what a service tech tells them is considered OK only to find out when something breaks, and Kia does not cover it under warranty, you could be left holding the bag and service tech that said it would be ok, probably doesn't work there anymore......;)

Hey chroniclifter,

As David mentioned earlier, we have a section on our website that covers warranties and the aftermarket parts that we carry.

We have lots of great options for you such as the
Injen Intake, Ultimate Performance Intercooler, and Ark Downpipes.

Please reach out if you have any questions, need suggestions, or if you would like a discount on your order!

Enjoy the new ride,
