Is there any fuel pump upgrades for kia stinger 3.3 other than the burger stage 1 option ?

Why do you need to "upgrade" it?

Fuel pump crashes at high rpm running any boost over 20lbs running any amount of e85 , just purchased burgers stage 2 this morning which just got back in stock.

Would be curious to hear your setup, as even Map 5 tops out at 20psi and I didn't think the stock turbos were good for much beyond that.

That would be nice but a tough ask given how they work. Low pressure fuel pumps are (usually) motor driven, but for the high pressures a DI pump needs, they're basically an additional cam lobe and valve located outside the head. So you're hearing the mechanical sound of the cam spinning around and knocking the tappet/follower up and down.

I had the clever idea to see if I could wrap mine to quiet it down, and as it turns out the cover that I thought was plastic is a thick, dense foam-rubber...turns out the OEM NVH teams are aware of the annoying sound and have done what they can to mitigate it. Might be possible to fit some more foam partway around it but I suspect it would give marginal improvements.

thanks for the reply , i understand how the hpfp works , I've been a Porsche tech for over 20 years , i mean all the vag group pumps are quiet and work the same way .

I could see Porsche going the extra mile to wrap, isolate, and dampen their HPFPs for NVH purposes, but I don't see how you completely avoid it without a fundamental re-design. I've heard it on Kias, Fords, BMWs, etc and even slightly older VWs (2010-2015 era? Haven't had experience with the newest models).

yeah it may be that our cars use a solid tappet style vs a hydraulic style used by many , idk the newer audi design is a solid lifter but quieter than the kia set up its just another minor annoyance

That makes sense. For all the benefits of direct injection, I'd hope OEMs eventually figure out a better way to do it...the number of "is this rod knock?" / "is this lifter tick?" / "why does my new car sound like a diesel?" posts and youtube videos would indicate it's a step back in the NVH department.

I recently watched that series on shoehorning a Stinger engine into a Delorean, and they swapped the direct injectors for port ones (and locked the valve timing) to make it sound more 80s-appropriate.

Off to search youtube I go...
