So this happened. The paint that came off was under the emblem and I had no clue until after the removal. Kinda sucks to have that right out on the front and I will touch up as best I can. 20180519_132444.webp

I took the side moldings off on my Magnum years back... only to discover tons of bubbles in the paint. The factory had been applying them to the car to soon after the car had been painted. So that experience has scared me from doing any of this stuff on the stinger.

So tried and tried to no avail and the best option was to reclear and polish and restick the factory emblem! 2 days and no change hahaha but oh well I learned something.20180520_183943.webp

I Had the same issue with my GT and my color is white too. I’ve seen a few people with white have the same issue.. luckily my new emblem covered the chip up.

What emblem were you trying to put on? I actually had to modify my new badge to get the fit right because the holes didn’t line up. My badge was off centered using the holes.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yeah this was a common issue a lot of us faced. I ended up having to place my round Kia Motors emblem (same as Mike's above) just a hair off-center to cover it up.

Putting the vintage kia motors badge and yes I took off one prong to center it on my bummper... I'm back to stock now and it is hardly noticable but I am sad I can't change it

Tough to have the first chip self inflicted!!! Happened to me as well!!! I'm uncertain of the paint quality of this car. I've ceramic (nano) coated hoping it'll help keep the rest of the paint as new. Time shall tell.

First chip was under 1000 miles and I caught a fudging lug nut dead center front of the hood and it went down to metal

Something in the white paint I guess. Been there done that. Scuffed the surrounding area and used spray cans.
The clear bra from dealer was actually perfect. If I remove it, you'll definetely see paint lines.

Don’t use turtle wax goo remover for the glue
Melted the yellow paint. Paint job wasn’t too good to start. No issues with my red stinger

I am wondering if Kia stuck the badges on the cars when they weren’t completely dry yet..

That seems to be the case. I was able to see an imprint of the emblems on the clear coat once I removed them.

@Dmchristie1 That looks rough, also is the panel cracked were the license plate goes? or is that just the angle of the photo. The dealer could also hlep you get the panel refinished under warranty. There have been cases reported of these type of issues being taken care of by the dealers under the factory warranty.

I used turtle wax goo remover as well. It's ok if u wipe and clean all residue right away but if any is left on or not rinsed off well it will melt paint. My trunk has some areas by light where the turtle wax adhesive remover pooled, it melted paint and it's just a white color primer =(

I guess one thing we have all learned is that the paint is a lot more fragile on the Stinger than "luxury" cars. The best we can do is add a nano-coating on the car and hope for the best. One thing is for sure, cars don't stay pristine forever (but then again, neither do we).

Yep as others stated when debagding stinger:
Zero need for heat gun (safer not to use)
Fishing line only will work
Goo gone (not goof off, not turtle wax adhesive remover)
Rinse area well afterwards
Follow above then you prob will be fine w no paint fails.
I'm gonna be getting trunk repainted. Here r pics for entertainment value
Turtle wax adhesive remover pooled at light and underside of trunk melted paint
