Sorry guys, brand new to forums and I’m sure this has been answered but I couldn’t locate anything. I recently purchased a 2018 Stinger GT. However it only came with 1 key fob. I purchased another online and it came with the “E” on it instead of “Kia” like the one I have. I vaguely remember reading these weren’t compatible with the North American models unless I swap the guts out, however I need 2 working fobs. Will a dealer be able to program this fob? Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance....

Welcome. Why only one fob? They come with two. I think you might be correct on the "E" key not compatible in N.A. Call or better yet go to the dealer and play dumb as to why the "E" key doesn't work. Came with the car as a spare had to use it but it doesn't work. Why? Can you fix it pls. Keep us posted. And you might want to add some details to your signature. ie where you're from, car mods etc. cheers

One key fob? All new cars come with two keys... I would demand the dealer pay for another key. What dealer is it and what was their excuse for only one key. I would be suspicious that that the other key that was supposed to come with the car would be used to steal it in the future...

Likely a used vehicle and the last owner did not return all fobs. If it was new then it 100% should have come with two.
It should have been done immediately after finding out that there was only one fob, but, press the dealer for 2 fobs that are programmed with a different code than the original. @Chucky is right. That MIA fob could be used to steal the car or its contents at a later time.

It was a used Stinger from a Kia dealership in Cary, NC. Was told it was only turned in with one.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
You could request that the dealer go back to the previous owner to grab it. Might work. Would certainly be cheaper for them.

I'm going to guess about 90% probability that it will work just fine - after a Kia dealer service department programs it to work with YOUR car. But a lot of dealers may not be experienced in doing that and it may take your running interference between the dealer and the source you from whom purchased the fob. You would think Kia "roadside service" would have a good handle on this from dealing with stranded motorists with fob issues.

Cautionary note added: Folks who know more about USA / Korean variations say it can't be reprogrammed to work in USA vehicles. I'm real surprised by that. Car manufacturers usually will do most anything to avoid having to buy / stock / sell / service, things like this that are not physically interchangeable. They are very big on things that only a dealer can extort big bucks for only pushing a button.

Correct on the "E" fob. The frequencies in which the korean fobs operate are different from the one in the USA. The dealer will not be able to program it.

Your best bet will be finding a used "KIA" fob and take it to the dealer.
