Just found paint chip on my new 2021 Micro Blue GT-Line. Crap! Anybody else?

Well, I just took delivery a few days ago, and was hand washing it today, and noticed a paint chip on the hood near the wiper blades. I immediately thought, what an odd place, especially on a new car. So did some research, and found paint chip issues, but seems from a while ago.

Anyone else with micro blue paint chipping? Is KIA still taking care of these issues?

Disappointing!

If on edge then someone who didn’t know what he/she was doing incorrectly lifted wiper arm and impacted hood.

I'll check it out closer. I did a very detailed walk around prior to delivery, didn't notice it, maybe I missed it? I haven't touched the wiper arm, maybe they touched up while detailing. I'm paranoid now, just found the chip post here.

Thanks

Before you say anything more, there are two kinds of rear hood edge chips; those that align with the wiper blade arm and the others that don't align with anything. We surmised (but never confirmed) that somehow the hood was damaged in assembly and being on the rear edge is easy to miss during inspection. The one good thing about damage there (if you can call it that) is that touchup is real easy along that edge; if done carefully it won't show; and only you will know it's there because, well, you know it's there. But five, six feet away you won't see it.

Don't think just because you have one chip then you must have a paint issue. This is what paint does when something hits it hard, it chips. If on the edge of the bonnet, it could possibly be by the wiper arm being pulled up as per what ShannonC stated. A common problem with dealers who don't know too much about the Stinger. If not on the edge, could be a stone chip.

Either way, just touch up with some touch up paint.

It's not aligned with the wiper blade, I'll settle down and wait if the paint begins to chip more. I understand rock chips, and have retouched plenty, just somewhat paranoid.

While I was doing a walk around, it's ironic, cause I commented on not being impressed with the factory paint job, the orange peel.

Can you post a pic?

PSA: If you use the car, expect more chips, dings, scratches and scuffs as time and miles pile up. :)

I obviously understand this, lol! Just a little concerned about subpar factory paint.
