When I turn on the headlights I get a dip in the middle of the top of my headlight pattern. The pattern looks like this...----------__----------

Hopefully, that makes sense. Is this common? Do they need to be re-aligned?

Thanks

This is normal. Lots of theories why, but I like to think it shows off the turning headlights more.

Normal. Has a weird dip compare to the others.

The "bite" out of the top of the headlight shine is to reduce the glare for oncoming driver's eyes.

^^Tell that to the morons driving with the highbeams on, oblivious to the fact they're blinding others.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Mine are like this ______v------
Anybody knows how I can level them?
Is a GT2 and they move but they are not level and it does not have the headlight leveling option inside.
IT has to be a bolt that mounts the headlamp assy. but don't know which one it is.

There is an adjustment screw on top of the headlight housing towards the back. You'll see the Adjustment markings beside the hole. You need a long Phillips screw driver to adjust. There is a thread on this forum (likely several) that describe the process.

My 2018 GT2 came like that. I assumed it was to reduce the glare for oncoming drivers. There was no little 'dance' when the lights were turned on and the lights did not move to lead the steering angle. There was a Nav and system update, I believe in 2020 and all that changed.

After the update the lights are like -----v-----. When they are first turned on, they do a dance, side to side, up and down, wiggle around like they are searching for something, lasts around 3 seconds. After that they point where the steering is pointed, not where the car body is pointed and it is really nice to see the -----v----- sweep to the left or right when I turn and lead, pointing to where the car is going to go.

Further, under normal night driving, (and set on auto dimming), frequently when meeting another car the lights will dance a little and the left lane drops a bit like _____v-----. It seems to be responding to environmental light in addition to oncoming headlights.

I got a little flack when I first posted about this update and several spurts insisted the system update couldn't possibly cause that and the mechanical elements in the car couldn't permit such behavior. I guess I should really look at some old dash cam videos and see if I can find some pre and post update videos.

I have to go to the dealer and ask about that update.
because, I'm skeptical of adjusting them manually if this is an electrical issue on why they are like this or a software like you stated.
Thanks man!

The notch in the headlamp pattern is to lower the lumen value at one federally mandated headlamp test point. That's the only reason it's there, but it does provide nice feedback to tell you the adaptive system is working.

My 18 GT2 does the same thing, and I have had passengers comment how cool it was that it did it, so you're not insane, dont worry.
