Just want to drop a quick note of introduction. I'm and old guy (60+) who decided it was time to have a midlife crisis and buy a "fun" car. I picked up a used 2021 GT3 with 2700 miles on it last November. Drove it for about a week before storing it for the winter so my seat time is limited. Breaking it back out May 1st. I've had a couple "fun" cars "back in the day" BC (before children). A '72 Camero and a Nissan 280ZX. Both were a blast to drive. I do almost all of my own work (anything not covered by a warranty) and have been wrenching on cars since I was a kid. I was considering a new Camero but was unimpressed. GM ain't what it used to be. I have had a pretty good experience with a 2013 Sonata Limited I purchased new. It has been a solid car over the years and Hyundai did drop a new motor in it at about 100K miles (know issue with rod bearing materials) Cost me $0. I'm already working out the list of mods I want to make to the Stinger thanks to this forum. Brake pads are high on the list as are stainless brake lines because I like the more immediate feedback you get on the pedal when the're installed. I like the mod to put the car in sport mode with autostop disabled when you start the car - brilliant. Anyway, I look forward to future conversations.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I’m glad you found us. Check out the forum store and vendor section for mod ideas. :) I think you made the right choice with the Stinger over the Camaro.

Hey ScottFree,

Welcome to the group and congrats on your new GT2!

It seems like you have had some pretty great cars in the past.

Hopefully, the Stinger is just as much fun if not more than your previous vehicles.

If you are ever interested in buying aftermarket or OEM parts, please check us out at www.K8StingerStore.com.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you would like a discount on your order!

Enjoy the new ride,

Daniel @ the K8 Stinger Store

Welcome, there's a few older members here. You don't sound anywhere near as Archie Bunker as they sometimes do, a welcome breath of fresh old air. :)

The Stinger is definitely a nice styling and performance compromise, seems to be translating well to many differing tastes and ages.

No mod suggestions, I'm still enjoying mine stock. Some find replacing speakers in the stereo helpful, but that's subjective and with the premium stereo you have it may sound fine for your needs. We like pics so if you get inspired or visit somewhere inspiring with the Stinger please share.

Just ordered my stinger gt for my 70th hope I am not 71 when I get it lol

Welcome! I'm fairly new myself and got my GT1 AWD a few weeks ago. It's a car for any age and you're jumping on the ship that many people know about and many many more are finding out about. Congratulations on your Stinger!

Also what is the mod to turn auto stop off on startup?

Hi and welcome. You sound like another version of me ( or I of you since you're older ) lol.

On the topic of braided brake lines, try a good set of discs and pads before doing the lines as it might be enough for you.

I only say this because....
I was going to do lines on my Stinger as well until I heard of a refused warranty claim about a year ago for a faulty ABS module which was deemed to be caused by the braided lines. The argument was that in an ABS situation, the factory lines absorb and dissipate the pulses / shocks in the system and the braided lines do not, thus the pulses / shocks were fed back into the ABS module.

The owner lost the argument and wore the total cost.

The former owner of the car told me himself and he's in the trade.

Anyway, enjoy the ride !

Good point on the brake lines. It is something I have done with other cars and it's almost force of habit now. Maybe I'll let the warranty run for awhile and consider it later. It's just the feel of the stock brakes. They are good but I think they could be so much better. I have a "poor man's" big brake setup on my '13 Hyundai Sonata and that made a huge improvement in braking and handling. So maybe EBC yellows will do the trick. Easy enough to find out. I have installed the Eibach sways and that certainly improved the fun factor. Once I get the brakes and handling to my liking I am looking at the JB4. As my daddy once told me - being able to stop is more important than being able to go....
I gotta say this is one of the better car forums I have ever been a part of. I don't write much because I generally agree with the responses and have nothing to add. Not a lot of trolling or s**t posting. It's refreshing. Thank you all.

After the sways, I suggest adding the subframe collars.

By all means, grab a GT, just don't drive it like you're 70 ;) :p

The Toyota Camry is for those who drive like 70 year olds...
