Unfortunately this is a sad post. I've seen at least two others on here recently with similar incidents. She was on her phone and hit me when I was at a dead stop in traffic. Praying that insurance doesnt find a reason to total it.
I had this experience once. Some 3 decades ago driving a mid 80's taxi cab (caprice). I was just about stopped for a traffic light. Across the street was a cop with someone pulled over. The driver behind me (driving some saturn car) wasn't paying attention, looking across the street rather than the light.
Clipped me good. Bent the bumper slightly. His damage was worse, hood/front end crumpled. Never did repair the car, collected the $$$. It had about 120K miles at the time.
My take away to always pay attention to the cars behind until there's some one else back there. If Im going to get hit, get off the brake to weaken the impact.
I had a utility truck pull up next to me in the left shoulder recently on my way home on the highway. Apparently they didn't allow themselves enough time to stop, despite it being stop/go traffic during a busy commute.
At least they had enough sense to quickly maneuver to a safe position knowing they weren't going to stop in time, but man why drive such a large vehicle in the left/passing lane and not pay attention?
