Picked up an Xtool D7 and can confirm it performs the transmission adaptive values reset. Low gear downshift issues are now gone! Nice to have the capability when it eventually comes back up again.

Tool seems fairly capable otherwise for the Stinger.

That looks like a fun toy, but a pricey one.

I have an Autel 808 for this exact reason; unfortunately it does come back up again.

I suspect it has something to do with hills, changing my brake fluid soon too to see if the adaptive learning is getting wonky because of brake pedal position

A hassle but at least it's a button press to fix.

Brake fluid is always good but doubt it will fix anything. My understanding is the transmission is learning for wear, not driving style. So probably someone programmed the trans to increase clutch pressure a bit too quickly and that's where the problem stems from.

Yeah, I see the Xtool for $399 on ebay, the Autel 808 for $449.
Seems to be the going price. Amazon had some holiday discounts recently on the Xtool. For a bi-directional scanner, seems worth the price, maybe not more though. Got the adaptives reset and seems able to activate most items (lights, indicators, trans temp, etc.) for diagnosis. So worth it for me at least.

I was able to do transmission adaptive values reset with Xtool A30D Bi-directional scanner. It only cost $159 from Amazon and currently has 20% off.

That's awesome, good to know. Even more affordable then and easier than going to a dealer.

Just bought the A30D. Now, are we supposed to reset the values with the transmission oil cold or up to operating temp?

Shouldn't matter. All it does is return values to their default instantly. Didn't appear to have any relearn aspect.

Thanks for the heads-up, I bought one and should be here tomorrow.

Got mine yesterday, haven't tried it yet.

Any update on how we actually go about resetting with the A30D? I just got mine in, but the manual says to floor it in P or N until it says to stop. My car is loud af and I don't want it to be screaming in my neighborhood lol

Thinking about getting one of these. Is there any clear cut instructions on how to reset the adaptive transmission?

I just got the 808 .. How did you get it to just reset ... It made me do the learning thing (driver 5x, D N 5x, R N 5x)

I know these are old posts, but just for anyone else coming across them, here's what I did with the Xtool A30D:
- Car in ON/IGN mode (not ACC), engine not running (two presses of the power button without foot on brake)
- From the Xtool app, Special Function --> Gearbox Match
- If "Automatic Mode" throws an error about the selected function not being supported, try Manual Mode and 2020 as your model year. This worked on my 2022. Xtool later emailed me to say they'd added 2022 (and I assume 2021), but I'd already returned the scanner so I haven't verified that.

The procedures and further discussion can be found on page 5 of the thread:

"Hard downshift transmission"

It is in the same subforum so should be easy to find (sorry the site won't let me put in a link).
