It's what is know as a piggyback computer. It does not replace or modify the ECU. Instead it monitors and modifies some of the signals the ECU is using to tweak certain performance factors such as boost. It also has excellent logging of the data for review. It comes with several default setting options (maps) to match your mods and gas.

If gives some immediate bang for the buck mainly by upping the stock boost 3-4 psi. The stock tune is a little conservative so this is a decent first option to get it more optimized.

Awesumpurson gave a great example of the intricacies of the Jb4 but I am going to expand on it as well. In an essence, the JB4 is a piggyback tune. This means the JB4 intercepts the signals instead of directly reflashing your ECU with a new tune. As mentioned above, it delivers incredible performance gains and can be used without any other mods except for changing your spark plugs which we recommend the HKS Spark Plugs, and offer them in our package HERE. The Jb4 installs incredibly easily and can quickly be taken out when you bring your car in for a service or need to loan the car to a family member. The tune tends to be reliable and conservative make it an ideal solution for someone who daily drives their Stinger but wants enjoy more of the potential from their engine. The Jb4 can be used on any of the Stinger engines as long as you have the right Jb4 kit paired with the right engine.
